I have a Windows 7 PC here that wont open most apps since a botched System Restore. One of those apps is Pastel Xpress 11.

It is the Pastel server for two other client machines.

I need to backup and format this PC and was wondering if there's any more to backing up the accounts than copying the Xpress11 folder from the root directory to an external drive?

Would hate to lose all that data!

TIA!

Well moved from one pc to another and it was just copying the folders across and opening them up on the other side. The version of the software was exactly the same on both machines though.

I'm pretty sure that it is that easy. We back up our Pastel system by only copying the 2012 books folder inside the program directory, and I have also successfully restored it by putting that folder back. So yeah... you should be fine... as long as none of those files are damaged.

Thanks mav3rick and Gary... here goes nothing! (oh wait.. potentially a boatload of accounting data :D)

Just make sure that the folder containing your actual company data files is in the Xpress11 folder!!!!!! It should be by default, but you also have the option to move it, so make sure that didn't happen!!!!!!!
