Pastel over AC WiFi

Hi.

Is anyone using pastel over a AC WiFi connection?
Any issues?

A client has a issue with a failing cable which is laid underneath a paved driveway so digging it up is not ideal and would be more costly than the AC WiFi route.

Dont see why not, if there is good signal and no packet loss it should be fine.

No, pastel databases go corrupt way too easily!

I would not risk it, unless they made better from V14, as that's last time I still worked with it.

I have a VM with remote desktop in mind incase of issues but it would be better if i can do a direct pc to pc connection to keep things simple.

Been there, tried it. Just don't..

You'll be sitting with constant database issues. Rather remote into a machine and work on pastel from it.

You have pay for support, it's a few thousand rand. Depending on amount of users.

Support is overall useless, not worth the money.

Thanks all. I had my doubt too so i think i'll rather not chance it.
I'm going to quote on a wireless link and a thin client and move the pastel pc over to the other building to be remotely accessed.

Use it as a draw wire to pull a new cable in.

Exactly what I was going to say. A cable is ALWAYS the simplest and most stable way, especially with Pastel. Surely the current cable is in a conduit and can be used as a draw wire.

What does a "failing" cable mean anyway? Check for damage and wear and tear by re-crimping first etc.

I don't know what's causing it to fail but the parts above ground i've inspected and don't see any faults. I have recrimped both ends and replace the switch on the server side.

The issue is no connection sometimes in the morning then they usualy restart the switch a couple of times until the connection comes back. When it is up and running it will general stay working for the rest of the day. The issue was and is present with the old and the new switch.
