Pay Traffic Fines Or Else

Say you only have your car in your name and you get a R100 fine that you don't pay... What they gonna confiscate? Your R100 000 car?

Typically no.

Living in Durban I OFTEN see speed cameras in areas that are NOT high-accident zones, or where they have arbitrarily changed the speed limit down a bit and are now obviously good cash-cows for the municipality.

Speed cameras and their placement are entirely about making money. In Cape Town we're still waiting for them to follow through with the promise of making the cameras visible and only placing them at danger spots.

The problem is that speeding is a red herring. There are other problems that are not soundbite friendly and are going to be difficult to address. Not to mention that they probably won't be profitable.

Oh yawn .. transport Minister Jeff Radebe thinks that an idiot driving @ 120km/h on a bad road surface towards a broken robot is not dangerous.

THIS MAN IS SIMPLY GATHERING CASH FOR BONUS TIME!

Is the money he is going to steal from us for traveling on our own roads not enough?

Cleaning up the speeding fine payment system will simply add money to the coffers and ... REMEMBER .. we still have the right to have our day in court. The sherrif cannot attach assets until the WARRANT is issued, which can only happen AFTER the court case, which can only happen AFTER the SUMMONS!

Why doesn't he (Minister of Transport) fine:
- the people who are responsible for the "robots not working" problem that occurs every flipping day?
- the people that are responsible for painting the roads after the lines have faded beyond rain-visibility?
- the people who maintain the road surface for every pothole not repaired per month?
- the people who place distracting adverts on the side of the road?
- the vehicle manufacturers who still insist on producing vehicles that don't have ABS?

I have yet to be issued a summons, never mind a flipping warrant.

This is a pathetic attempt to distract us from the fact that this minister is clearly not interested in creating a safe environment to commute in.

These vile pig swill drinking, granmother raping bastards are always fining me. But not once do you see them doing anything in PE. they just drive around eating chicken... thats all i've ever seen them do. They never pull over the taxi's or drunk drivers. Why should I pay them, I don't already get raped as it is when I pay tax. They never do anything unless its shortly after a major accident, in which they work for about a week and then go back to there assing around. No sorry, if I am going to be paying my fines I'm going to going to the back and exchange my R400's worth of fines into 5cent pieces. And if they dont accept it, well then they must get rid of the fine cos its not like I'm not paying.

hi all

i really need some advice

i bought a toyota corolla from a guy
later with all the papers i wanted to do a change of ownership and then go to test grounds and then recieve a license disk
now the traffic department where i live told me the car is blocked and i need to phone lydenburg traffic department
i did so and recieved a huge suprise the told me that:

the cars engine number and registration nr is behind with the license disk
and the disk was renewed last in 2002 and the fine from that time to now is R2350 at the moment
so now the guy that i bought from said its my problem so what can i do now?

someone told me to scrap the car then reregiter it put it throu the test and just get a new license disk then that fine will remain the responsebility of the guy that i bought from and then the car will be on my name and i will have a valid license disk

is this so easy?please can someone help me as i dont know anything about this tipe of stuff!!!please anything will help

The outstanding license fee is the sellers problem, you need to reclaim your money and hand the vehicle back to the seller.

I don't have a problem with what they want to do but they need to work out some payment methods. Those websites don't offer to pay fines from all locations, i got a fine in some small little town because the speed limit changed from 120 to 80 and now i need to practically go back to pay them. I always try obey the speed limit but like someone mentioned the N2 is a disaster when it comes to the changing of speed limits.
