PC overheating problem

Hey guys i have an 2.5ghz Dual Core CPU and its idle temp is around 47" and in 2 minutes of max load it reaches 89" and continues to climb. How would i fix this?

Maybe try putting on some new thermal paste. It happened to me too recently, my CPU temps were up to 98 degrees!! The next day I went out to go buy thermal paste, cleaned the old off the CPU and applied some new paste and the problem was fixed. Even if you take your heatsink off once, it's recommended to apply new thermal paste.
 
Have you inspected the heatsink+fan?

Heatsinks love to eat dust, scratch out any dust between the fins and use compressed air to clean out the dust from inside the pc.

You should do this at least every six months, and more regularly if your pc stands in a dusty area.

If the heatsink is clean of dust, then most likely it will help to re-apply some thermal paste and make sure everything is seated properly.
 
Also make sure that the heatsink is properly tightened/seated!

I thought that the direction of the arrows on the stock heatsink's plastic holders pointed in the direction that would lock the heatsink tightly on the motherboard,
but I was WRONG! Those arrows point the direction that you loosen the heatsink!

My i7 860 idled at around 40" and its temperature very quickly (under 10 seconds) exceeded 90'C when had all 8 threads 100% loaded.
All it took was to remove tighten the heatsink and now the temperature never exceeds 70'C.
