PC to console gamers

No I agree. But that is the only thing we have to show us a wider picture. Yes, I do believe PC's to be far superior. I do PC gaming myself. But there is no way in hell you going to get the type of gaming from a decent PC at PS4/XBone prices. Jirre my GPU alone was R 4k :D.

Well you're only going to spend a huge amount once in a while really. You can then just upgrade whichever part is slow. I mean cpu's fall into the good enough category these days. The only big thing that you can upgrade is the gpu.

Cheers

PC Gaming is just more expensive up front.

Sure the new consoles were only 7 grand when they first came out, but then you have to drop R900 a game. If you want to play online with your friends, you have to pay again.

On PC R900 during a steam sale can keep you gaming for the rest of the year, and online is free.

Console only really wins out if you're a very casual gamer.

On all of the above I agree 100%.

Xbox 360, the laaitie had to have a gold membership to play online. That is why I went and got him a PS3 as it was free. But I see with the new PS4 and XBone they both need subscriptions to play. Pretty retarded tbh. They cream coat it with free games during the month :D

I agree with this too. I had to build a new PC from scratch as my other one was just too dated. I'm sure by the time the new consoles launch I'll just have to upgrade my GPU in a few years and it will still be better. I just don't get this whole PC vs Console tbh. They both have a place. I just hate these exclusive titles. It grinds my balls to no end. And I blame you guys with your PC vs Console :p

You are looking at this from a technical point of view. I agree, pc is better, and for the record, I like pc and consoles.
But remember that a lot of ordinary people are buying branded desktops and laptops. They have no interest in building their own. This often means they are trying to play games on integrated chipsets, or very weak discrete chipsets. That is why the steam survey reflects this. The pc gaming industry is bigger than the technical people running the latest and greatest. The machine simply wasn't meant for gaming, as they were probably looking for a good deal, and from a gaming perspective this leads to disappointment.
Consoles are built with gaming as the primary use. It's plug and play most of the time. Sure, the console graphics look dated toward the end of its life span, but that is the trade off.

The last of Us is possibly the main reason to try out a console.

It does take time to get used to FPS on the controller but the rest of the games actually feel more intuitive.

FPS I still save for the PC, and RTS etc.

I've been playing it for a couple of hours and am really enjoying it so far. Aiming to fire the pistol is an absolute biatch as I knew it would be, but perseverance in the key here.

Who has made the switch from PC to console gaming and was it a difficult change?

Can you ever be as good on a controller as a keyboard and mouse, especially with fps type games?

Why choose one?

Have a gaming pc and a console.

So I own a PS4 and a Gaming PC.

I've basically stashed the PS4 behind the PC to be pulled out for exclusives, and just pull out the PS4 controls to use with my PC when I want to do co-op play ( or games that work best with a controller )

Steam in-home streaming also allows me to attach a low powered laptop to the TV in the lounge and just stream the games I want to play on the big screen without needing to drag the whole beast over there.

If you're serious about gaming, build a little gaming rig, get a USB/Bluetooth adapter and use the PS4 controls to play your favorite games. I got the PS4 for two reasons; GTAV and MGSV, both of which are now PC titles as well. I'm honestly considering selling teh console now.

Uncharted 4

I only acquired an XBOX360 to play Red Dead Redemption, bought mine back in 2012. Still more biased towards PC gaming. But had lots of fun on the Xbox. My daughter enjoys the consoles too, with the Dance Central etc and also some Wii games, though she also tend to take over my PC more (play more PC games than Console).

I switched with Modern Warfare 2. Recently, I have started playing a fair amount of PC again, so mixing up the two.

After getting used to the controller, I prefer a controller on the PC over KB/Mouse.

How long did it take you to master the controller for fps?

It was a few days. But lots of jamming in those few days. We were on holiday and I purchased MW2 for my son to play (just released). One evening I gave it a shot (still on holiday) and got hooked. When we got back home, I got myself an Xbox for my game room and that was that. Converted for many years. Now it's a mix.

Once used to it, it is cumbersome to use a KB/Mouse.

Nice. I recall you've got a large library of games, so what would you recommend for a controller noob who enjoys fps with a stealth aspect to ease into the console. i.e. not a lot of melee type action but more a considered game of thought?

Quoted for truth

I'm struggling to play fps games on the PC now after spending so long on with a controller

See my post above, recommend me a stealthy type game. Alien Isolation looks good?

Alien Isolation has some stealth to it, but if you want to learn fast to aim and react quickly , pick up any of the battle field games. Battlefield hardline is pretty fun.

Isolation may be more frustrating than rewarding if you're starting out on a controller.

What console do you have?
