PC Upgrade (What you Guys Think)

Are you really gonna use SLI and DDR3(uber expensive)?

Go for the P5K otherwise. Save some cash.

P35, consumes less power, OC's well.

That Gigabyte looks good too, I actually wanted the board just below that one, the P31.

Not if you're planning on upgrading to a 45nm intel cpu any time soon. And not if you're planning on running your FSB at 1333MHz like GermanD is. Oh, and not if you're planning on using DDR2-1066 any time soon. And lets not forget that 965 boards don't support quad core.

I've probably missed a few points there, but I think I've made my point.

THis mobo supports Intel next generation 45nm Multi-core CPU
and is Intel® Quad-core CPU Ready.

But maybe P35 would be a better choice.

965 do support quadcore, i have a 965 gigabyte mobo running a quaddie
personally 1066 ram is pointless, 1% gain aint worth nothing

not much different between a cpu running 1066 and 1333, proven fact on anand

you do raise alot of valid points though
 
OK. The 45nm support must be a recent thing which they added with a BIOS update. I'm not too sure if that mobo really has quad core support though. I think that site might be a bit inaccurate. If you have a look at the specs page, no mention is made of quad core cpu's. Also, intel's site makes no mention of quad core in it's 965 specs: http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/p965/index.htm . Either way, unless you overclock (hecticly) you'll be stuck with FSB 1066 on that mobo. I'm glad you've decided to go the P35 route.

Edit: lol....seems even Intel's site must be wrong then. They probably haven't updated their 965 page in ages...lol
 
lol athlon im running a quadcore on a 965 mobo, of course it supports

it does not support the 45nm though :)

Lol actually i have never oc'ed anything before it scares me a bit as i might not be sure what im doing :p

I think if I keep that Processor, Ram and take the P5K board i be enjoying my games :)

Alot of my friends suggest AMD processor but i dunno.

I know the Intel are definitely faster but what about gaming.
How are th AMD cpu's vs Intel's regarding only gaming? :confused:

Im running an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8Ghz cpu at the moment and still it performs amazingly well.

The Intel Core2 range is currently faster than AMD in just about every application, including games :)
 
yup there is nothing an amd can do better than intel

also its really fun overclocking :)

with amd i dont consider a 300mhz fun :)
 
lol cool i believe so too, if only AMD wouldn't fall behind cause id like to stick with AMD.
But ye we all go for performance right!

If i would go for AMD X2 id take the 5600+ 2.8Ghz (6000+ uses way to much power)
Intel id spend a bit more going for the Intel Core2 Duo E6750.

I guess Intel is the way to go here :)
