PC Upgrade (What you Guys Think)

Intel are clumsy cpu's when it comes to single minded purposes in which case the AMD generally rapes the intel dual core by 30%.

We got a different picture, however, when we ran single applications on each system. Here, the AMD system performed distinctly better (by just about 30% on average) compared to the Intel system.

overall the Intel is a faster chip (but turn off HT and it fails miserably).

Thus, when making a purchasing decision, the question to ask is whether or not multiple applications will be running simultaneously. If the answer is yes, then the Intel Pentium 840 EE is your first choice. Otherwise, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ will give you much better performance for single applications.

so, sure intel are good for servers, but for the average user your AMD will always be a better bargain as the article above by toms hardware reflects.

I am a little unsure about a good motherboard :confused:
lol ok so like i wanted to go for P35 board but i ran across this board...

I read very good reviews bout this gaming board even though its a nvidia 680i board.

The main differences i see is that if I really want to SLI then i should go with this. Otherwise i would want to go with this board:

I wish to choose one of these but not sure which one.:confused:
I know P35 is new but still the other board is wow too hehe...

If you want sli then 680!.
If you want 45nm quad core support then P5K. ;) Simple.
 
If you plan to upgrade to an 45 intel quad core later don't go for the p5n32 e sli. Since nvidia won't allow intel to use sli on their chipsets Intel pulled support for quad core 45 nm from the current nvidia chipsets. Only dual core 45nm will be supported.

Rather go for the intel chipset or wait for the new 7 series nvidia chipset it will support pci express 2 and the 45nm quad cores.

Off those two go for the p5k.
 
I do plan to SLI but not anytime soon.
So the main reason for choosing the P35 would be for 45nm support?
I read that the P5N32-E SLI does support Intel next generation 45nm Multi-core CPU and also 1333MHz FSB.
*sigh* lol am not sure.
If I wait for the Nivida 7 series...when are they being released and how much would i pay for those :confused:
