Depends on what pc you have. There are better gfx cards on the market than what the xbox 360 or ps3 has to offer. I think consoles resolution stop 1080i but I am sure one of the console guys can confirm this. I think most console games are still 720p though.

Comparing consoles and a PC just can't be done. They are completely different.

Consoles are simply gaming platforms that may have multimedia functions. PC's are multifunctional devices that can play games, connect to the internet, multimedia, work etc, but by no means is it superior or inferior. Each does what it is designed to do well.

The Consoles are convenient, easy to use, have a lot of games, etc, This is what it is designed for. PC's are work stations that can play games etc, this is what they are designed for. Trying to compare them to each other is just going to raise the temperature of the fanboys on this site. I like the PC for some games, but there are some exclusives out there for the consoles that I wont be able to play because they are on console only. So the real question is what do you want to play? make your decision based on that. The modern consoles have excellent graphics so you are really not going to see a difference except in stats, but not by the eye. Personally, I have a PC but would give my left you know what to have a Xbox or PS3 too. And if money was not so tight right now, I would.

Also different games. I'm still to find a decent JRPG on PC since Grandia 2 in 2001/2.

Jrpg's are a console thing so, not many pc gamers would buy a jrpg so there is no market for it.

I think if you play FPS and want the South africa scene you need to do so on pc not console. Why not have both?

can you get mods for console games and which sells most games(steam included) pc or consoles?

Agree with that, FPS is better on the PC. As I said, depends on what you want to play. Good gaming PC's are also expensive so sometimes it is not always possible to get both.

That is totally illogical. JRPGs are on console because most childrens games in Japan run on console. Japanese games on PC are mostly hentai titles called "eroge". It is apparently expensive to first translate and then convert the console game to PC. Secondly there may be licensing issues. Your point is completely nonsensical. Most people would love to buy a PC and not have to buy a console to play JRPGs.

Since SONY and MS subsidize h/w sales (consoles) with software (game) profits, it would also make sense for SONY and MS to release PS3 and XBOX360 emulators. That way those with quad core/oct core Xeon and i7 systems could emulate a PS3/XBOX and buy all those expensive console games.

I dunno. FPS is good on the Wii where you can slash or shoot with that handheld control job, rather than hammering the Ctrl key.

Yeah, actually forgot about the old Wii-Wii. Wouldn't call it a next-gen console though. Sure that remote is quite cool but the graphics and non multimedia issue spoils it.

Gaming Innovations like The Wii provide aren't widely available on PC's, but PC's are more powerful, multifunctional and cheaper than consoles. I play all my old N64, PSX, PS2, Saturn, Dreamcast and Game Boy games on my PC anyway and most of the games available for the modern Consoles are either released for the PC or ported to the PC.

I's all up to personal preference though, lot's of people are adamant that PC's aren't for gaming and would rather just push a Power button and kick of their socks when they get home and play on their 360's.

Get a PC.. its the real gaming machine... an Xbox is if you like tv games more than real gaming.
