P.S.

"Japanese site PC Watch managed to snag an interview with PS3 head honcho Ken Kutaragi, who hinted to them - in a round-about kind of way - that the PS3 may well get regular hardware upgrades in the future, mentioning the possibility of a Blu-ray disk writer amongst the first add-ons."

7 Upgrades Xbox 360 Needs to compete against Wii and PS3

The Internet was buzzing today with rumors of a forthcoming 100GB HDD upgrade for the Xbox 360. While it created some nice material for other blogs to write about, this does little for the Giz (if the upgrade even makes it State-side). Instead, it's obvious that this was an attempt by Microsoft to steal Sony's and Nintendo's thunder. We don't blame them. But to successfully get our attention, you need more than rumors and leaked pics of a hard drive. Here's our list of what we think the 360 needs to trump the PS3 and Wii onslaught.

1)Integrate the forthcoming external HD DVD drive and 100GB HDD into one console. Don't raise the price.

2)Expanded codec playback. C'mon guys, show some undiscriminatory love.

3)HDMI output. Nuff said.

4)A better-organized Xbox Live Marketplace experience. We think browsing could be improved.

5)Make it easier to hack the 360. We like personalizing our PCs and gadgets. Interchangeable face plates doesn't cut it.

6)Give us a quieter system that won't overheat. If you want us to watch HD DVDs on our 360, the console's whirring needs to be toned down.

7)No one wants to be MCE's bitch. Give us IPTV.

now that i think about it....if id to estimate id say about 95% of all gamers use to play on console before pc....do you guys remember TV GAMES(thats what we used to call it...tetrus, contra, battle tanks...all those games...man those where the days... i loved it... but then again without the pc there would never be a console..:D...just a thought..hehehehe:D.... but dony get me wrong...im for PC all the way..:)

I'm all for number 7 :D

As a PC gamer there's one thing you also have to consider.

your uber overclocked $10k PC rig mounts to nought when you have to sit on the couch watching reruns of going nowhere slowly, when the wife wants to play solitaire, or the kids wants to play "Barney's great psychedelic adventure".

At least on a console I can also get to kick Barney's @$$ :D

ROFL! buy the wife a PSP :D

i would take the last option... afterall a gamer doesnt have to be solely bound to his PC all the time? ;)

Pc

I recently built a PC

It is a Intel Dual core 3.8 GHZ with a 7600GT 1 gig memory and it cost me R4500.

Thats without Monitor and HD.

Each option has its benefits... and nothing really beats a pc for Strategy games... unless Microsoft bend to the will of the 150 odd people who are clamouring for the kb+mouse combo on the 360... but I love my 360... its awesome.....

Compare xbox 360's and PS3 specs to current PC specs then come back ;)

The games coming out on PC are more the kind that I like to play. So specs to me is useless unless there are games on those platforms that I would actually like to play. And so far the only Console game I missed to play was Far Cry: Instincts on the XBox.
