Bwahahaha...sorry...i'm crying here....bwahahaha
this whole thread is my fault....hahahaha...i'm sorry...it all started like this...
i said that that PS2's are cool in the NFS Carbon thread...then i got the reply that PS2's are gay...and so the "are consoles gay" post was formed...then the whole pc vs ps2 thing came up and now we have the "PC vs the TV Consoles" thing started...hahaha....
well i know this thing ended by Vember saying that "both it is" but let me give me 2 cents...since i do play on both the PS2 and PC...
here goes "accouncing voice" the pros and cons of consoles and pc gaming and see who wins....
ok i'll start by commenting that you can't really compare the two because a pc is not really a dedicated gaming system...it's a multifuction unit...but let's try anyway....
1.) Ease of playing
Console = press power button...open tray...insert disc...play
PC = Same as above but...check that system requirements meets...check for updated drivers...make sure you have the latest game patch installed to avoid compatibility issues....check your direct x version....make sure you have enough free space....etc...
Console = 1 Point
PC = 0 Point
2.) Graphics
We have not even seen PS3 yet so let's work on Xbox 360...
Well to make this one easy a decent display card is gonna cost you the same as the 360 console
Console = 1 Point
PC = 0 Point
3.) Control
Okay the controller on a console is quite handy....but damn no chance for that working great in a CounterStrike Tournament....hey wait ,...what's this ..USB ports...hmmm..uses standard keyboard and mouse...well then...
Console = 1 Point
PC = 0.5 Point (because it has K+M as standard)
4.) Multiplayer
Yes yes the xbox has ethernet as well....but pc's will be the LAN king...(even though i don't play multiplayer)...i think it's fair
Console = 0.5 Point (Xbox 360 for effort)
PC = 1 Point
5.) Pricing of Hardware
No Comment
Console = 1 Point
PC = 0 Point
6.) Pricing of Games
Yes PC games are cheaper...but have you seen the Platinum on PS and Exclusives on Xbox Pricing...
Console = 0.5 Point
PC = 1 Point
7.) The Games
I Still can't find any of the new Mortal Kombats on PC....anywayz...
quite alot of the games on PC's are ports from consoles and verse vice...so
Console = 1 Point
PC = 1 Point
The Conclusion
Console = 6 Points
PC = 3.5 Points
I guess for Gaming ...the main topic in this post the console is better at the end of the day
The good thing about a pc is, graphics and gameplay are constantly being improved where as on a console, developers are limited to the current specs of say an XBOX 360 to build their games off, limiting their potential![]()
The new thing in the PC world is lanning
20 ppl can play a game like CS or whatever and still get up
ans say I wiped ya!!
Yes lanning is a slep somtimes but 10 hours of gaming isn't.
Dude. Lanning is not new, 12 years ago I used to setup Quake I (yes it existed) lan games with over 30 people there. You couldn't all play Quake at the same time but Warcraft and Starcraft where also big then.
The Xbox 360 has Xbox Live. Last time I heard they have something like 2 million people connected together. You can also LAN consoles but why when you have xbox live?

You can connect two or more Xbox 360 consoles to play a multiplayer match. Xbox 360 supports up to 16 consoles for system-link play.
my 2cent on your 2cent...
2.) 7600gt = R1300 xbox 360 = R4500...7600gt will give you more or less the same graphics...so Console = .5 Points
PC = 1 Points
How do you get to this???my 2cent on your 2cent...

If you have the 7600gt GFX card you still need a decent PC. Another R4000.
I think you're wrong.![]()

Haha....The Big FireFly....ja i told you that this will become a war...good one![]()
anywayz..accourding to sources you can LAN a Xbox 360 with a PC...aka the Guy on the PC can play directly against the dude on the 360...but the support is game specific....(Quake4,Prey,etc)...
Macguyver1.....Stop being so serious...have a milkshake
and..P.S. you can use standard USB keyboard and USB Mouse on the PS2 and upcoming PS3...and yes some if not most of the FPS games on the console does support it![]()

7600gt = R1300 = 1point
xbox360 = R4500 = 0.5points

Yip and apart from that, X360 = R3700 for the premium. If you're going to compare the price of one aspect of the PC (i.e. gfx card) then you can't compare it to the overall price of the entire console - you'd have to compare it to the price of the gfx card within the console, which isn't very practical. Therefore if you're going to compare the price of the entire console, you have to do the same with the entire PC. And unfortunately, for R3700 you're not going to get a PC that's going to compete with an X360. That 7600GT is also quite dated and in no way is it superior to the X360's gfx.

HUH???
XBOX360 - Custom ATI Graphics Processor 500 MHz
10 MB embedded DRAM
48-way parallel floating-point dynamically-scheduled shader pipelines
Unified shader architecture
Polygon Performance 500 million triangles per second
Pixel Fill Rate 16 gigasamples per second fillrate using 4X MSAA
Shader Performance 48 billion shader operations per second
Then...
Playstation 3 - NVIDIA's chip is codenamed RSX. The chip runs at 550MHz and is capable of rendering video natively at 1080p, or 1920x1080 progressively (non-interlaced). It's touted to hit 1.8 TFLOPS of floating point performance and can perform 100 billion shader operations per second, or 136 shader operations per cycle. The RSX uses 128-bit precision for enhanced color definition, making the system capable of High Dynamic Range rendering. Programming-wise, it's based on OpenGL and NVIDIA's CG language.
NVIDIA recently released its GeForce 7900 series GPUs for the PC, which provides a reasonable real-world approximation of what sort of effects the RSX and PlayStation 3 can handle.
hehehehe....and quese what!......you stil play it on n 800x600 tv screen....![]()
