Pebble Owners

Hi Guys...

First off, so glad to see there is a support/owners group that's fairly active. Might not be massive, but its there :)

Secondly, I also recently purchased myself a Pebble Steel(rather by accident, I was still waiting for the confirmation page that comes after filling in the details) but made the mistake of taking the usual shipping instead of DHL. My estimated waiting time is 7 weeks, but research has showed I'll probably only receive it early 2015. My concern, other than our beloved postal strike, has more to do with the use of it. I'm a bit of a fitness nut and want to use it as a fitness tracker, but there isn't a lot of user info regarding that feature.

Have any of you used those features on the Pebble and what are your findings? Also, how did it affect the battery life on the watch?

Can't wait to receive mine, and will definitely be posting once I have received it.

I just use the notifications and the alarm, enough for me. You should get about 5 days with medium to heavy usage. :)

I ordered mine through the getpebble.com website with the free shipping. Not too sure about the import taxes, but the cost of the watch was R2254,92.

I finally got my Pebble last week after having ordered way back at the end of October. Support team is utterly useless at responding to emails, which got me a bit frustrated. A really angry email later, I ended up getting a full refund. Only paid about R200 for VAT.

So far, I am absolutely loving it. Battery life is brilliant. I switch it off at night which really helps.

Does anyone have an app that displays Google keep notes/checklists? That would be really handy when it comes time to do some shopping.

Also, I ordered a red and black striped nato watch band, will post a picture of it as soon as it arrives.
 
Sooooo...got my Pebble Steel last week and I am very VERY glad I decided to go for the watch instead of either the Gear or Apple Watch. Fitness tracking with Misfit app is great, sleep tracking is incredibly accurate considering it automatically detects when you sleep. My battery lasts about 3-4 days, but I must admit that I would consider myself to be a fairly heavy user(need to charge my iphone twice a day). I would have liked to reject calls with a set text message reply straight from the watch, but for now its already a big help being able to see who is calling without looking at the phone. I can't believe I waited this long to buy one, and it seems Pebble are launching something big this year...so might even start a collection.
 
Does anyone know where I can find a nato watch strap locally? (for a reasonable price) Ordered one off eBay in November, I'm pretty sure its lost. The tracking number expired :wtf:

Not sure if a colour screen is worth the bump in price, but I managed to snag an early bird slot on kickstarter, so we'll hopefully see in May/June.

Im abit late to the party but hey better late than never.

I put in a pledge for it on the second day of it being live. I recently made the jump to the early bird slot after much arguing with myself why the pebble time steel isn't really worth more.
Theres a fair bit to the pebble time, Not just the screen, the Microphone, Better CPU, More RAM, THe port on the bottom for additional sensors and such (through SPI)

Im not sure if the upgrades are just because the color screen requires them or if the bump will prove useful later down the road.

My main reason for doing the upgrade over my pebble steel is because of the microphone. Will be interesting to use while driving if it works well. I also feel the color screen could be useful for displaying info. You can fit more info on a color screen and have everything stand out nicely than on a B&W. You could also color code stuff for better legibility. My steel is also starting to look a little grubby :P

Will be selling my pebble steel once my Pebble time has arrived for those interested.
 
I am also considering getting a Pebble.

So far I have only found takealot and wantitall that sell them. Are there any others you know about?
Or do you think it is better to just order it directly from Pebble?

The others may correct me if I'm wrong but I think you'd be better off buying it from Pebble. I paid roughly R200 to SARS when it came in.
Just make sure you choose the courier option, the postal strike backlog will have you waiting for months.
 
I'm looking at a pebble steel, but I don't have a credit card to buy it from the pebble site. Is there any local shops selling pebble steel?
