Hi folks

We are again experiencing a problem with website speed due to peering link problems between SAIX & UUNet. I am awaiting feedback from UUNet regarding this issue.

Our apologies for any inconvenience. Lets hope this problem is resolved soon.

Regards,

RPM

So nice to be routed internationally as well.

It's working fine from the IS network. I guess IS and UUNET are still peering okay. Maybe it's time everyone boycotted SAIX for hosting. First the debacle with the IS/SAIX peering link and now UUNET/SAIX. By international standards this is a joke - sections of a whole country's internet periodically going wobbly because the only licensed network operator has issues with peering. At least with UUNET it sounds like it's a solveable technical issue not some ongoing legal spat.

its the saix maintained link to uunet causing this, so IS and UUNET would work because they are not run by a bunch of complete idiots *sigh*

*Sarcasm on: Surely you cannot blame Telkom for this, remember, they are a bit cash strapped and cannot afford a proper service...AND...we are paying low fees for the service, so we cannot complain! :*sarcasm off

I'm so frustrated with Telkom that I'm shaking :(

Take a guess how I feel, when there is near 400 clients depending on me :/

Makes me look like a solid turd to say the least!!

I feel for you wamatt, ive been patient for last 2 weeks, im going to demand some sort of relief because this is damaging me permanently.

2 weeks of problems is more than enough patience, now I feel like kicking ferarri's around ;/

what's sad is that UUNET believed the problem was solved early this afternoon - they currently don't believe there is still a problem :(

Yup - you just can't rely on single Tier1 providers in SA. We are going to start private peering with everyone. Also very often the customer doesnt care (and he shouldn't have to) about where, who, how and what the problem is.

Incorrect, they do know about the packetloss, please read their noticeboard and I was told about it the moment I asked them if they are aware of packetloss.

Stuff that, link between saix and uunet is completely DOWN atm.

Update: Ok why they havnt kept it like this earlier, is beyond me. uunet and saix links routing internationally atm while fixing the packetloss experienced locally. Higher ping but usable connection now.

Update: OMFG now they route it back locally while the line is still congested and screwed over by packetloss, what on earth is going on!!

Update: Local issue seems fixed for now, guess well have to check round 2 tomorrow! Atm Low ping and 0% packetloss like it should be.

Hi folks

UUNet has informed us that it is a hardware problem and that they have updated and configured new hardware on their side. They could unfortunately not divulge any additional information. I must say that this is rather irritating…lets hope this issue is solved soon.

RPM

I thought it was a WBS problem so I switched to ADSL... same problem on SAIX.. both the systems had a packet loss.... WBS is at least now fixed, but adsl is still having losses @22h13

@ADSL
--- www.l.google.com ping statistics ---
26 packets transmitted, 22 received, 15% packet loss, time 25019ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 424.321/425.296/426.197/1.004 ms

@iBurst
--- www.l.google.com ping statistics ---
23 packets transmitted, 23 received, 0% packet loss, time 22018ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 357.439/385.346/499.884/33.130 ms

the peering issue fixed is saix with uunet, nothing else. IS to uunet was never affected.

The supposely broken saix links internationally has nothing to do with this fix.

Iburst should be fine now, since the uunet link is fixed, saix should be broken since nothing is fixed there.

Clipse - you are wrong - Our account manager gave us a call to tell us it's sorted - when we then told him he is talking k@k.

It seems better this morning.

Well at least I can connect to MyADSL today. Since friday its been impossible. If I had been doing the tests for you RPM this week.. they would of been completly different.

Last night I couldn't do anything. HTML was ok, but anything on any other port was a no go. Tried logging into games and was gettin 40k + pings.

Got about 4 days worth of reading to day now :)

still expreienceing problems international especially.

Using saix

Time :10:10 on the 13th of september.

This is getting really irritating
