[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

I've read there is a firmware update for the U8QF that improves it's performance - anyone have a U8QF and can comment? Considering getting one if there are any decent deals tomorrow.
 
For the price it's at now it's a great performer either way.

Had it next to LG Nano, Samsung Q60 and Q70

It matched the Q70 is image quality, sports were better as well on the Hisense.

With the Hisense, some tweaking and you're good to go. I love mine, picture quality is amazing on these panels

The thing is, you have to decide for yourself. I bought a Q8600 based on other people’s opinions and returned it when I saw for myself.
 
Hi guys, so I replaced my Samsung RU7100 with the Hisense U8QF 55" and loving it so far. I use it with the new Chromecast because the Vidaa apps is not up to scratch for me. There was a lot of little niggles to sort out and there still are:

1. The tv seems to sometimes do a full boot even if set to quick boot and when this happens the TV "forgets" that is in Enhanced HDMI mode and defaults my Chromecast to 1080p60. Switching to standard and back to enhanced fixes this but it is not supposed to do this.
2. I use it with an Atmos soundbar via ARC and have the TV set to Pass-through. This works great for the Chromecast and live tv, not so much for the built in Netflix app. There is a huge audio delay. If I set it to Auto it solves this but then the Chromecast has a delay. I tried setting it to only apply the setting to current source but it doesn't work and the setting changes accross all sources, again not supposed to be like this. I haven't noticed the delay with other built in apps and the content on Netflix was Atmos so not sure if it happens only with Atmos content.

I am sure these two problems will be fixed with an update in future so it doesn't bother me too much.

However...

3. I can't find an app store for the built in apps at all and I also can't see when last they were updated. What is up with that?

4. This TV is advertised as being HDR10+ capable as well as Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision works great on the built in Netflix app. It also works great on the Chromecast Netflix app. The built in Prime app however does not even want to play DV content at all. It works on the Chromecast though. My biggest issue here is the HDR10+. It is as if the TV doesn't support it at all. I remember when using it on my Samsung almost all shows had HDR10+ on Prime. I also used the Chromecast on the Sammy and that too had HDR10+. On this TV with the built in Prime app and the Chromecast I just get normal HDR10. What am I missing here?

Anyone else with a U8QF that can assist me with some of my issues? I'd really appreciate it
 
Managed to get a 55U8QF at 40% off (R8400) on the ebucks shop last night - hopefully it arrives tomorrow and can test this weekend. At that price I think I can live with some of the issues!

You will be fine using the built in Netflix app. With this TV you will also have the benefit of Dolby Vision HDR. If you set the audio to Dolby Digital Plus or Auto it is perfectly in sync and Atmos still works as Netflix Atmos is delivered via Dolby Digital Plus. The Pass Through is just a bug though and should be fixed with a firmware update or Netflix app update in future. I just prefer the Pass Through as that means the TV is not processing any audio but rather your soundbar / sound system directly and also because while using the Chromecast on Auto it causes an audio delay with the Chromecast so then I constantly have to switch between sound modes. Not a biggie for me currently as I prefer using the Chromecast and that works fine with the Pass Through setting.

Also make sure you are using the Premium Netflix plan and that your quality is set to its highest setting or auto for Atmos and HDR to work

Yes, delivery included! Got notification it's on it's way. Don't know if I'll be able to give a useful opinion on it though, I'm coming off a very low base - 2014 40" Samsung!

They had some good deals. It’s all gone now. I would have taken the Samsung 55Q70T for R7800 after the 40% discount but I’ve already bought so I’m out of the Black Friday TV race.

I think you’ll enjoy the TV. Report back after you have test driven it!

Honestly this was a very challenging decision to make that late at night - whether to go Q70 or U8QF. In the end I just went with what I'd originally planned on - the starting price was too high on the Q70 for my budget. Was worried I'd run out of time and miss the deal while researching more. I'm also keen to see how much that 1000 nit peak brightness improves HDR!
 
Our Hisense still going strong. Works fine (65") it turns 1 year old in Dec.

I managed to get a good deal on a 55 inch LG B9 Oled. It was still more than I wanted to spend on a 55 inch TV but Oled is something else. No dirty screen and no dark corners or edges to annoy me. Plus it has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. My only concern is that the SuperSport logo is going to burn in on that screen. I just know it.

The U8QF was definitely a no brainer at that price.

Unpacked my 65 oled CX today. Coming from a 40 inch old Samsung. Wow!!!

Lots to learn but that black is deep. Webos is a bit irritating Feels like a proper cinema now. The sound has surprised me. Don't think I need a soundbar. It also picked up most of Jr iOT devices . Nice to control from TV

If there are any left in the morning this is a great buy, Going for R6500 on takealot so this is a steal.
