Are you watching via DStv decoder or via DStv now app?
Either or, they both will appear a bit poor in relation to other TVs. This TV wasn't rated very well on sports viewing but rather on general entertainment from all the reviews I did prior to buying it...
When watching sports I find the TV pixelated, but to improve that I just take off smooth motion effects and add custom. Judder = 3 and blur = 5.
It has made a difference for me.
Also, when comparing the DStv now app in-built on the TV vs the one I have on my Mibox, the one in-built is much clearer and the colours way better, even with the exact same colour settings. I assume this has to do with the upscaling perhaps.
I don't have DStv as a decoder, but if I compare to my family's 55M7000 ULED when they watch football via DStv decoder, it's just as pixelated. Keep in mind the TV has way more pixels than a normal FHD TV, so the possibility of seeing the pixelation of non 4k content is high. That's why seating distance can make a difference.
It's a flaw which many have noticed but small tweaks improve it a bit.
I contacted Hisense about this and they informed me there is a firmware update that they would email me. Still waiting, so I don't think they actually sent it. Will call again on Monday. This was for the 55B8000 though.

Was the old TV FHD? If so that's why? I've noticed playing Diablo 3 on my friends full HD TV the fire effects look better as the game isn't trying to upscale to 4k. Though it's minor things.
I stream football via the DSTV now app and while the resolution and consistency is fine since my last manual FW update, the frame rate is most often noticeable low. I hate motion smoothing and turning it on to combat the low frame rate just gives motion objects an ugly smear trailing behind them so I keep it off. Streaming via a browser on a laptop and connecting that via HDMI gives a much better frame rate but the admin of having to set that up each time and losing remote control means I mostly just deal with the frame rate. I have noticed occasionally that the frame rate will be normal but that happens infrequently. I thought perhaps it was line-speed related but I recently upgraded to 100Mbps down and still the same.

Personally, after watching the Liverpool game today on the b7100 Hisense, it's way more pleasing than on the b8000. The ULED technology is so ahead that when the source inputs are poor, it really stand out as poor.
In all honesty I would rather watch daily TV on the B7100 series, and proper Dolby vision movies etc on the B8000...
I'm looking for another 50" Hisense TV, preferably with HDR10 as well as Dolby vision... None of that ULED technology, just a normal LED. I really dislike the smooth motion effects on the ULED TVs so preferably one without it.
I've seen the 50B7100 which has HDR but no Dolby vision... Then I saw there is a 50B7200 android TV (I'm not sure if it has smooth motion effects on that model) which has HDR and Dolby vision, which is very hard to find besides on takealot... Can anyone suggest a different model one that would have those specs?

Are we really stuck with this horrible motion during sports? especially football. I watched a match at my mother inlaws place the weekend who has the entry level 43" full HD Hisense TV and even on there the football looked much smoother than on the Q8600. putting motion on just makes the ball look like a blur whenever its being kicked abd having motion off just has horrible judder

Perhaps I need to go investigate the picture quality of the B7200 at my local Kloppers store as I know they have it in stock there and play around with the settings.Guess whenever I buy a TV in the future I'll have to double check this as that is also something that would irritate me to the extreme.

Don't know how fast the interface is (processor wise), is it on par with a Mi Box / Ematic one, or faster like a Nvidia shield? That I'll only be able to confirm for myself when checking it out in a store. Also, it allows one to sideload apk's too, which isn't too bad.
Only reason why I'd rather opt for a HiSense Android TV set, is because the majority of the Skyworth models can't be VESA mounted (which I require with a little one running around the house).
Oh alright. Let us know your feedback on that as im also considering that model. I already have a Mibox and Litbox which would now be redundant but that B7200 has better specs than the B7100 i.e. Dolby Vision, 16 local dimming zones etc . Its an Edge-Lit tv though, so im not sure how well that is going to display vs Direct-Lit (LED matrix) which are generally much better for local dimming. One thing I dislike about Android TV is being unable to see the resolution of Netflix unless watching testing patterns...
I think that if you want a good sport stream via DSTV now on the non-Android TV Hisense models you will need to fork out for an Android media player. For now I am sticking to the built in app and dealing with the juddery football. My team doesn't play any football worth watching at 60fps anyway.

I'm experiencing judder even when using the mibox on my B8000 so no difference. However, PDF mentioned that the in built DSTV now app gives off better quality than the Android TV experience via Mibox
I'm yet to test this
Maybe we share our settings so we can come to a decent workaround

I think the problem might be the frame rate the dstv now uses. I think they use 25fps if im not mistaken. An entry level hisense displays sports much better because that panel is only 50hz and that divides nicely into 25fps but the B8000 is 60hz and Q8600 is a 120hz panel. When i watched a football stream on an android app that was 60fps then there was no judder what so ever. I have a Q8600 by the way

Should be 25 for non-sport and 50 for sport but who knows.

Don't know what the price was yesterday, (most likely R6000?) Either way, it's decently priced for the size, although I'll probably settle for the 58". Bigger is always better (most of the time)
One thing that I'm wondering about though, is whether the Android TV version is up-gradable or not. A few Google searches that I've made points towards it running Oreo 8.0 (same as my MiBox3). If it isn't, not a huge train smash. It has 2GB of RAM and 10GB Flash storage space, so more than enough to load or side-load additional apks.
I'll still rather take the TV for a test drive in store before I pull the trigger.
