[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Yeah, the Hisense remotes we get locally are really bargain bin.

No Bluetooth, no Voice Control, just a cheap plastic remote with rubbery buttons like we got with ye olde CRT TV's from the 90's

It's quite pathetic considering we pay almost the same price as the UK for these TVs yet there's seem to be better specced .

@Hisense SA sorry to bother you, but you are my last option.

First of all, I'm not in South Africa, but I hope that you can give me a hand.

One month ago, I buyed a 55 u7qf, I was having some ghosting issues, and emailed hisense, they sent me a link for a new firmware, flashed it and I think is not flashed correctly or not the correct firmware, since I flashed, I have massive red ghosting that makes the tv unusable.

Tried to factory reset, nothing changes, tried to downgrade, but the tv don't let to do the downgrade.

My set is a 55u7qf hsso a195302 can you provide correct latest firmware (I have k1112 installed) or tell me if there are a procedure to make downgrade?

Local customer suppor don't response my emails ten days ago, for them, all is ok, I sent videos showing the issues, but they don't give to me more assistance.

I know my case is not your work, but help would be really apreciated, I have a new tv but I am using my old tv because new is unusable.

Thanks in advance.

Why come directly to South Africa support and not your loca/regionl hisense support?

If your local Hisense support gave you the "wrong" software, just imagine what Hisense RSA will give you!

Lol your best bet is to choose another country because we are in the same boat.

Won't get much help from Hisense SA.
Believe me, I read the post here, and Hisense sa is a lot, a lot a lot more helpful than my local service, my set is a shame, ghosting, massive red ghosting after the update, clouding, banding, and for my aftersales swrvices, all is ok and I no need further assistance, tried asking for help in the global customer care, they told me to talk with my local service, nobody offers a solution, here I only ask for a link, maybe I'm lucky, maybe not :)

It's a shame having a tv with one mont and have it useless. It's a shame having to come to ask for help in a SA forum (sorry for the interference) but I don't know yet what more to do

It seems Hisense tv's have a lot of ARC sound problems.
I don't know if this works for all Hisense models or only certain ones or are dependant on the AVR you use.
When I paused Netflix for more than 2 minutes or exited it and opened it again after a while there was no sound coming from the AVR.
By repeatedly pressing the 'tv' input button on the AVR remote for 10 seconds made it lock in place and sound came from the AVR. By just pressing the 'tv' button once or twice didn't work and it kept jumping back to 'media player', 'game' or 'radio' input on my Onkyo receiver. The AVR has no sound problems with a connected Android Media Player, only with my Hisense tv, so the fault definitely lies with the Hisense.
This is easier than pressing 15 buttons to disable and re-enable all the HDMI CEC options that only make the sound come back in certain situations.

@Hisense SA Can you confirm if there is a newer firmware version than J1127? There appears to have been a report of an OTA K1110 update that at least one owner has received.(see Q8600 thread for details)

This is likely your receiver. On Nvidia Shield they have an option called "comfort noise".
Basically it "plays" a silent track to keep the device from going into some kind of power save mode.

Not sure how you set it on the HiSense TV or perhaps you can disable the power save options on your AV receiver.

So I decided to take a chance with a new firmware from the Aussie forum for my U8QF as they had a big update from K0908 to K1223 . Loaded it onto a flash drive and 3 minutes later(longest 3 minutes ever as it was stuck on 0% for a while and I thought I bricked the TV!) it was done successfully ! I haven't played around too much but I definitely notice an improvement with ghosting and backlight flicker in dark scenes !

I also thought my region would change after the update but it still only allowed me to select countries in Africa.
So I fiddled a bit more and went into the secret menu (settings >>sound >> speaker balance>>type 1969 and a green M will show up. Then select settings again)

Here I was able to change my region to anywhere the TV is sold! So I selected Britain and now have access to more apps, the voice function still doesn't work though .

Any chance you can supply me a link to the firmware if its for the 55"?

K1223 firmware on the 55U8QF seems to fix the audio delay issues with the built in apps if on pass-through.

When watching Prime on the built in app or with Chromecast still no indication of HDR10+. Trying hard to source a sample file of HDR10+ content so I can test on USB (Maybe Prime don't support HDR10+ on anything else than Samsung TV's?)

Will test the enhanced HDMI setting that the TV seems to forget even if still indicating as such - will update once I am confident it is fixed

I'm hoping someone would be able to answer this question:

Hisense TV's audio seems to have improved quite a bit in recent years, especially in the premium TVs. I have a Q8600 and am considering a basic soundbar like the one in the link below. My question is: Would this be substantially better than the TV's speakers?
Hisense 2.1 CH Sound Bar HS212
Hisense 2.0 CH 60W Bluetooth Soundbar HS205
