Hisense TV's audio seems to have improved quite a bit in recent years, especially in the premium TVs. I have a Q8600 and am considering a basic soundbar like the one in the link below. My question is: Would this be substantially better than the TV's speakers?

I've heard the HS212 and can confirm that is significantly better than the Q8600 speakers.
 
Has anyone updated the firmware for the B8000 from J1127 to K1110. Has it worked and is K1110 compatible with the B8000 series?
 
FYI, I applied the update posted by NdimzDJ on my Q8600. Since I'm using a nVidia Shield I didn't notice any difference. TV still can't be turned off using CEC :(

Don't think this is limited to hisense. For example on my Samsung q9fn and ps5 if I turn off the ps5 it does not turn the tv off. I need to rather turn the TV off to get my amp and ps5 go off (ATM the ps5 goes into sleep mode) ... But turning the ps5 on does turn everything on (TV, amp)

Worked on my old Samsung Smart TV (roughly 2015-ish TV)

K1223 firmware on the 55U8QF seems to fix the audio delay issues with the built in apps if on pass-through.

When watching Prime on the built in app or with Chromecast still no indication of HDR10+. Trying hard to source a sample file of HDR10+ content so I can test on USB (Maybe Prime don't support HDR10+ on anything else than Samsung TV's?)

Will test the enhanced HDMI setting that the TV seems to forget even if still indicating as such - will update once I am confident it is fixed

Has this fixed the youtube aspect ratio issues yet? You can test this on a Linus Tech tips video.
Has this fixed the youtube panning audio issue? Comes and goes with speech.

Last firmware I tested was around K07 and those issues were still around.

Also every firmware other than J1127 has really bad color on my 43B7100.

I am not sure of these. I actually don't use the built in apps as I am using a CCwGTV on it. I just quickly tested Prime built in for the HDR10+ and noticed the audio delay was fixed that was a problem on previous firmwares.

Colour seems fine with mine not sure if the firmware works on other models than the U8QF. My audio is also set to passthrough to a soundbar so also not using the built in speakers

I could 'fix' the audio delay manually by adding a negative offset in the config files, but with Youtube no such luck :(

The firmwares works for most part on all similar models. The only issues that seem to happen if you chose wrong model is backlight issues, display timing and audio amp. I would not recommend anyone doing that though :D

Have you tried outputting Youtube in PCM only as Youtube don't use Dolby. That is what I would do if I have audio problems on YT on the built in app

It does it on all outputs. Even headphones. Basically the L/R channels goes out of sync by 10ms for a period of time. Then you get that 'cave echo' / panning effect. At this point, I have just learned to live with it.

My dad's older Hisense does not have either of the issues I have with Youtube. Hisense even replaced my mainboard. Still same problem.

Jeez. And what is the model nr? Thats poor. I dunno why they don't test and sort out these things. That's why I just gave the built in apps a skip from day one as I could immediately notice lag in the apps and blurring

43B7100. The apps are a lot faster than my dad's older model. All in all, pretty good value for R4500, 4K HDR. I use it as a 4th monitor/dashboard in my office.

- 55-65 inch.
- Budget is R10-R13k, at a push slightly higher.

What should I be looking at?

Only nice to have is Bluetooth. And even with Bluetooth, is it possible to connect two different headsets to the TV to watch at the same time?

Hi Leppie - did you ever come up with a solution to this? I thought I was going crazy that the sound was doing weird things while watching youtube until I saw your comment and can confirm mine does the same! I'm using a sumsung 3.1 soundbar connected over ARC HDMI. It works great except for this weird panning issue. When I connect with an optical cable then it seems to be fine.

It is better (less noticable) if you run it through 2.1 (or 5.1 simulated) via optical, but it is still there.

It even does the same if you run it thru the browser on the TV. And I am sure I have heard it in DSTV app too.

I gave up on testing EU firmwares around Sept, none of them ever fixed it. Now I just live with it.

I tried it with my unit (U7QF) and it is not possible to do this. Your best bet would be to get some sort of Bluetooth repeater or something like this that can take the analog audio from the TV and output it to multiple BT streams.

I don't know if that will actually work, but it's the simplest thing I can think of
