U8 looks amazing.
 
I have a U8 and my experience has been mixed. In terms of visuals - it's fantastic. HDR content from Netflix looks amazing and I haven't noticed any motion blurring issues. The UI is average and the remote could use an upgrade but it works. My biggest irritation is the sound from Youtube panning randomly (through all sources, including the built in ones - and youtube is where I consume most of my content) and needing to reset the device after it stopped using ARC to control my soundbar. Also, I've been rather unimpressed with the image quality from my Mibox to the TV, but haven't tested enough to confirm it's the TV/Mibox/Cable/Settings.

Overall I'm still very pleased with my TV, especially at the price I paid, but it's not a completely perfect experience.

I dont have that issue. my only problem in youtube is Ads sometimes break the video, or mess up the audio sync. But these are super occasional. Hopefully another firmware update will fix it. Other than that, I have no complaints with mine.

I must say the spec sheet on this TV is pretty impressive. VRR makes the TV future proof for gaming at least. I have never looked at it personally so I can't vouch

Check what version you're on and upgrade. Unplug the TV from wall for 30 minutes and plug back in. Then try to get the update and it should work.

Audio issue sounds like it could be firmware related. The mibox interface quality can be somewhat improved by setting the resolution to 4k from mibox (I'm also using a mibox)

I have those at my office. Bought 2. The one still in its box since February last year. With no return to the office since then. I prefer Samsung. They last forever.

Thanks - I actually manually updated to K1223 a month ago already - no change to the audio issues. I may be unlucky but there was someone else here who had the same issue (@leppie post #2233). Definitely feels like firmware as Netflix is perfect!

For the mibox - it seems to blow out the whites weirdly. They go all blue and shimmery. Might need to play with the settings some more as raising the contrast to max helps, but then the contrast is at max and the rest of the image looks garbage...

Funnily enough my TV broke in December, I was 3.5 years into my warranty, Hisense gave me a full refund.

I bought the Samsung 65" Q80T because of the gaming features, I am very happy with it.
 
Good day all - In the market for new TV noted U7 and U8 are recommended but just noticed Hisense 55A7200F going for R8k - Any thoughts on this model, reviews on Takealot seems its well received device for its price range.
 
Takealot are such liars. I have a few items in my Wishlist that apparantly is on the Fire sale, for exactly the same price they have been for the past 5 months (normal price).

The U8 doesn't have HDMI 2.1, so you're not going to get VRR, ALLM, eARC or 4K@120Hz.

The LG is probably the best budget HDMI 2.1 TV you can get. Has all of the above. Also a 10 bit panel instead of 8 bit.

To get past the local dimming issue, just turn it off altogether. Your blacks won't be as dark, but at least it will be consistent. Not something you're going to notice much during normal viewing. LG also has better viewing angles, picture looks the same even at almost 180 degrees.

In terms of picture quality I'd say the U8 wins. In terms of an overall package and future proofing, the LG wins...
