Which model?
 
I saw that there is a rebranded u8qf by Toshiba which is exactly the same but running android TV.......

Wonder if its possible to somehow get that firmware working on our sets.
 
So it is time to replace my Hisense faulty TV - note I am looking for a 55" unit

Do I go with the
2020 55U8QF or the
2021 55U8G

the later being R3K more expensive from Takealot.

Also, any one knows of specials on either TV

I have a strong suspicion that there is very little difference between the two.

The main upgrade I can tell is the U8G has Vidaa 5 which is still shite.

I do encourage others to step in here and debate the differences.

Not much difference between the 2 in terms of specs, i would get the u8qf due to specials, the U8G is too new for discounts.
 
Was looking to get one of the ULED model. any good deals? U8QF,U7QF or the newer U6G/U7G is what I'm looking for.

Yes it was a great deal, i wasnt even in the market for a new tv coz i had bought a samsung 43tu700 5 months prior but the deal was too good to pass. The samsung hasnt been on since. Also check stax.co.za they have great deals on tvs sometimes or at least their prices are usually better than other retailers.
 
I've had my TV for about a month now. I'm noticing some hectic horizontal banding in some scenes on my U7WF, looks like I got a bad panel. Does anyone else have similar issues? I can't unsee it now that I've noticed it. Does Hisense cover this sort of thing under warranty?

Yes, I had a question about that topic on the previous page. My U7WF panel has some pretty bad horizontal banding on some scenes. I need to get it looked at by Hisense. It's quite distracting when there is lots of grey/dark-ish colors in the scene but also light sections. Even my non-techie wife noticed it. I will try to remember to take a few pictures/videos tonight.

I've had it for around 5 weeks, hopefully I can still do something about it. I thought it might get better after a while.

Just wanted to confirm, the U8G that is being released in SA is different from the US?
US = Android OS
UK/Rest of world = Vidaa OS

I assume there are other differences too... what a pity.

I'd really like an TV that runs Android... might have to go with Sony...
