[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Is it a common issue for Hisense to turn on via CEC but not turn off? Its an issue with my Apple TV and my 65U8QF

Takealot has the 65inch model for 40k which is still pricey but nothing that Black Friday couldn’t sort out if these guys are serious about the SA market as they say they are.

CEC doesn’t turn off Apple TV’s. Even the previous versions of VIDAA couldn’t do it. Works perfectly on Samsung and LG.

I tested it now and it does turn the tv off. Could have been fixed with a software upgrade either on the Hisense or Apple side. But Apple TV still can’t control the tv volume it seems.

Sorry, a little off topic here. I am looking at purchasing this TV model and want to know about the software updates this has received? Is it still getting updates? Also what is your general opinion about the performance of the TV?

I'm very impressed with the picture, brightness and quality - best bang for buck with dolby vision and dolby atmos. The only bug it has here is scrolling text (e.g at the bottom of a news broadcast) has weird interlaced effect and its almost unreadable - static text is fine

Sound quality is good but I reroute this via a receiver (this is possibly also causing the CEC issue as it seems the ATV turns off the receiver before the TV)

Software was last updated over 1.5 years ago, quality I have no idea - I exclusively use ATV 4K

I have the 55” version, mine still gets updates. Sound is good(loud), Picture quality is good, it gets very bright, vidaa is not good, motion handling also not very good.

All in all my next tv will NOT be a hisense. You simply get what you pay for if I am being honest.

Wondering if there are any firmware updates for my A6130 Think the last update I downloaded was i0929 and the tv/Hisense SA did not support OTA updates at that time.

Thanks for the feedback. I am also planning to use ATV exclusively. I guess the weird text relates to motion interpolation extremes? I will also use a receiver for sound so not too concerned about that. I was more concerned about vidaa os to stream dolby vision content, but I guess an updated ATV box could do the same

Loot has a pretty good deal at the moment, still undecided about it though

Thanks! Have you tinkered with motion interpolation settings? What brand are you leaning towards if not Hisense?

For me, I can't find anything with as good picture quality for the price. That's all I'm really interested in

I'm pretty happy with mine, make sure you receiver supports 4k enhanced with dolby vision

I bought mine via Esquire online as they are the cheapest

Yes I have played around with the settings, looked up settings on different forums so I could see which would be better, but motion is still a big problem, it did get better with the most recent update the tv got, however it’s still nowhere close to other manufacturers, My Samsung 43TU700 has better motion handling, so if you watch sport or game, you will struggle with fast moving objects.

I didn’t pay much for my 55” because they had a big sale going on when I bought it, so I don’t mind it’s flaws, however had I payed the normal retail price R12 000 (which is about 40% more than what I paid for mine) I would’ve returned it and saved up for a better TV .

If I were to buy a new tv right now, it would be an LG C1 Oled for R20k. If you already have a budget of R15k rather wait an extra month to makeup the R5k shortfall if you have to. It will be worth it.

But the LG is Oled.
Best TV Os/Ui.
Magic remote is a must have.
Really good motion processing.
Awesome tv if you are a gamer, has all the ports you need so will be future proof.

Awesome thanks. I did more digging and see that the processor on this Hisense is really old and is also used on their entry level TVs from 2020 that explains the poor motion processing. I think I will give this one a pass. Appreciate the input!
 
For what its worth, I decided to contact Hisense SA earlier this morning about adding support for Disney+ to VIDAA and this was the reply I received:

Thank you for contacting Hisense.



We are working with our partners at Disney to release the Disney+Hostar application at the earliest possible time. This will allow the users of Hisense devices access to the Disney+ application in South Africa.”

So it does seem like something is in the pipeline for those that want VIDAA app support for D+ :D
