[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Thoughts on the U8QF? Does anyone have any personal experience with it? Haven't found one physically in stores to check out.

Lol TV prices are insane. Sometimes i wish i didnt care about HDR so i could just buy myself something massive but cheap.

Still not 1000 nits unfortunately. And it’s still an LCD, LCD is old technology now and I won’t be investing in that anymore. My next tv will be OLED then from there QD-OLED once the prices have come down a bit.

Edit: oh and I am done with Hisense, from now on I am sticking to quality products, You get what you pay for with these cheap brands. Unfortunately Sony doesn’t sell it’s awesome OLEDS In SA so only option will be LG. Other brands I will take a pass.

Ok if you can afford R130k for the 83 inch LG Oled then go for it!

I dont need a 83" tv, I dont even have space for something that big, 65'' is probably the biggest i can go. I am not looking to buy a tv now in any case, i have to save up for that. I already bought two tvs in the past year.
 
A Cuoriosity stream app question.
My Hisense model 65A6100 TV (VIDAA OS) would load all menus and previews on the Curiosity app, but would not load any contents when pressing play. Just the Curiosity logo stays on the screen. Sometimes out of peak times however it would load content. I have a 20mbps fibre connected via cable to the TV. Curiosity says they have no support for the OS. Hisense denies having such an app, yet it came installed on my TV under Apps menu. TV was bought new in 2018. Any ideas?
 
A lot of people are relying on the TV built in media player functionality and IMO you will always get a lesser experience.
TV companies are focused on making TVs.
When you buy a media player they have actual development team constantly improving that product because that is the product they are trying to sell and continue to sell.
But companies making TVs offer a lot of models and as new models come out, there is literally not incentive to improve the older product.
This isn't just unique to TVs it is universal for hardware companies.

Set yourself up for success and don't use a TVs integrated media player and you will have a better experience

I'm using a nVidia Shield and with the Hisense and haven't had a day of trouble.
What kind of problems were you having?
 
Does anyone have a link to recommended tv settings (SDR/HDR movies and gaming) for the U8QF? Thanks

Actually the Android 10 built into the 58" Sinotec I got recently isn't bad, will see how long it lasts hopefully it gets updates, as the cheap Sansui I bought like 5 years ago never went past Android 4.

I currently own two Hisense TV's - a 55" Q8600 and a 55" U7QF. Unfortunately, neither supports Disney+ so I had to buy an external Android TV box. No matter the HDMI source (and I've tried multiple devices), the TV seems to get "stuck" in the BT.2020 color space after viewing HDR content, and then proceeds to apply BT.2020 to everything ... the UI, SDR (BT.709) content, the lot. It doesn't switch between applicable colour spaces at it should.

This causes the whole picture, to get over-saturated in the red channel. This is very noticeable on skin tones and other scenes where BT.709 is expected, but BT.2020 is applied ... and there's no way to actually manually force the HDMI input either way. Changing the output from the Android box doesn't help either, save for using HDR to SDR mode, but that defeats the purpose of having an HDR capable device, and also it makes content look really ugly.

The problem is on the TV's side, and the only way to "reset" the picture back to BT.709, is to either pull the HDMI cable out and replug it, or to go into the Hisense menu and change the picture profile to something else, and then change it back again ... that seems to trigger a BT.2020 to BT.709 switch-over, but it's quite cumbersome to have to do this every time.

I already flashed the TV firmware with the latest M0222 build, but that didn't solve the problem. I've written to Hisense support, so hopefully they'll come back to me, or the @Hisense rep here, if still active.

I have the same issue on my 55" U7QF. Very annoying.
Side note: Do you mind sharing a link to the newer firmware? I am still stuck on K1112, which is from is from 2020...
 
Been looking at pulling the trigger on a new 65 inch hisense. There are some great deals at the moment.

Between the U6G and the U7G which is the model to go for? The price difference in only 1k between the two.

I have noticed we get lower specs here (U7G is not 120hz and so on). Its a pity we don't get Android OS in SA. Will just have to use my mi box I guess.

Anyone have any idea whether the U7G is a VA panel?

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

U7G for sure, it will be entry level HDR but good enough, and yes the panel will
Be VA. Don’t even consider the U6G.
