Oh no, that thing is only pushing 300-400 nits, forget what it says on the box, you are not getting HDR with that brightness. You need a minimum of 700 nits to get into HDR and at least 1000 nits to experience proper HDR/Dolby vision.

You are better off switching those hdr settings off.

I will try and add photo, there is a massive difference between having it on than off. HDR content is gray when the setting is not on.

I disagree, I think even without spectacularly bright highlights the HDR rendition will look better than SDR, especially since it has Dolby Vision. Yes, it might not be ideal to view HDR content on a TV with mediocre brightness levels, but remember that nit numbers do not scale linearly.

Out of interest, do you have source somewhere that recommends disabling HDR on TVs with less than optimal peak brightness levels? I would be interested in seeing it.

Please excuse the Camera images but you can see it looks gray and this is how half my content looked I downloaded in HDR.

Same here, I was under the impression it was done automatically. Only figured it out the one day when I noticed that the Xbox complained saying its not HDR compatible.

Only when I changed the HDMI to enhanced the test on the Xbox was successful.

Will definitely watch my Plex movies through the Xbox now.

The answer at least makes sense and you got one! My 65 inch tv has a built in Curiosity app, but it does only work sporadically. My request for support was met with 'we do not support apps not coming as resident apps with the TV'.....heloooo, mine came with the app, support please.......(silence) ignoring me further. I have had so many issues with the TV, I am cross at myself for allowing a salesman to talk me into buying the crap when I actually set out to buy a Samsung. And Eksdom is even unable to loadshed the rubbish to breaking point so insurance can replace it.

Samsung is just as crap, aim for LG for your next purchase. Dont settle for mediocre anymore.

Got the LG A1 (non-gaming version of the C1 since I do not use a console). Not a single negative aspect to the experience so far.
 
Anyone with experience with the U7G? Looking to get a tv around 10K exclusively to watch streaming content.

Edit:
It seems that I will have to deal with crappy customer service and will probably have to buy a firestick as well.
