[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Can anyone recommend a Hisense TV for me? Looking at around 55" - have a soundbar already, need 3x HDMI input. Mainly for watching downloaded series and PS4. Have a Xiaomi Mi Box already too so not too fussy about OS (although wouldn't mind ditching). Currently looking at the 55A6H.

55" A8H

Yeah Disney is on the a8h now its 1080 and stereo only :(

Mine was available on vidaa 5.0 without a software update on a Toshiba C350 so very strange indeed

Same here, even on Vidaa 4.0 - the vidaa software did update about 2 months ago, but I checked yesterday and Disney+ is available in my app store.

Any way to get Kodi onto the vidaa app store. Really wish the will give us the google tv version

Argh I just need a back cover for my one TV, the cheapy replacement is dying so I am back to using the original, but it's got no back cover.

OK, had to politely ask for USB upgrade (1.1GB - and Factory Reset automatically) and seems I got a EU (still VIDAA) firmware. Much Nicer and Finally Apple Airplay!!!! (and Disney+)..

File (zipped) - 69653_55U69GEVS_Hisense_E014_N0207
Unzipped: usb_MTK_9900_EU.pkg

But with Apple Airplay I can basically cast "anything".. #WIN

Upgraded to V0000.06.20J.N02087
Extended Version: J.N0207
55U7H

Feels like a new TV :D

It does seem to use MORE Power
Standby - 18W (was 9W)
DSTV (now seems 1080p) - 95W on STANDARD, FILMAKER = 64W)

Screen does look much nicer on this firmware (FILMMAKER)

Standard looks very bright... but yeah 35W more power (only in South Africa we worry about power usage)...

How did you get the firmware upgrade via USB?

How did you get the firmware upgrade via USB?
Asked Politely... Tried 2 days to update via Over the Air (kept on saying no update)

Then went to https://hisense.co.za/contact/ - Chose Product Consult and provided my Model Number and serial.

First they asked to do the "normal" Update Online.. told then #NoLuck

Then they replied with a direct link to download..

Has anyone got eArc to work in passthrough mode on the A8H? When I set it to passthrough I just get beeping noises. I saw some people mention eArc issues with the latest updates. I cant tell if its the TV or this adapter that I need to use to passthrough eARC to my amp that doesnt support eARC (It just pushes a normal HDMI signal to a non-arc port https://www.amazon.de/-/en/FeinTech-VAX01202-Audio-Extractor-KabelDirekt/dp/B09TTFTH29). It does work when the ARC setting isnt set to passthrough and the adapter definitely supports 5.1 PCM
