[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Hey guys,

I've been reading this forum for a while now as I'm looking for a new TV.

Particularly a TV that's going to be decent for gaming. I currently have a U6G. I'll be looking at around 12k. I see that the U8H is on sale for R9999, for the 55". I know it's not the US version but in terms of the local model and gaming, would this be a good deal?

I've also been tracking the A8H and hoped to get a deal for one over the festive period.

What do you guys think? Would obviously love and LG but I don't have that budget.

Thanks for your time.

Mat.

Get the Toshiba 55” Z770. R7k at Makro

Thank you for the feedback. I don't know much about Toshiba, good for gaming?

I see the Sony X85J is on sale for 11.5k at hifi corp but not too familiar with it either

Similar thread here much for the Toshiba like Hisense. Just search a bit and it’ll give you some feedback on the set

Takealot has this Mini LED for 52% off - Hisense 55 u8h - R9999.00

Amazing TV for a rediculous price.. Only "issue" is VIDAA... but can live with it...

I have a question on this. I see it is basically the U8G, would I not then be better off buying the U8H?
Yes, Of course.
But its going to be more expensive. So depends what your budget is and what you are willing to pay

Edit, I see you are willing to go up to 12k. In that case. Ja, get the U8H on Takealot. 10k is a great price. Its still 3k more than the Toshiba. But if your budget allows it. Go for it.
Only downside then being the VIDAA, So you will have to pay an extra 1k for a media box :P

Go for the U8H, brilliant TV for the price. As mentioned VIDAA isn't great but works fine for the main streaming services and easy enough to add a media box

Cheers, I run most things off of my Xbox anyway. Thank you all for the feedback, will be going for the U8H.

The U8h is on sale for R9500, daily deal at Takealot. Can't tell if this will be worth buying over the Samsung Qn90B. Black Friday is close too

Lucky I hadn't jumped yet! I've become stuck after reading too many reviews on the EU version of the U8H and saw all the talk on here regarding the A8H. Should I maybe wait for a special on that? Buying a TV is a terrible thing.

Good day all, me again. I am still in the TV buying hole. Out of curiosity, would you guys go for the TCL C745 or the U8H? Again, appreciate the input through this struggle of a time.

Similar boat - I'm considering the TCL C645 (75" so I only have budget for the C645 not the C745), and I'm really struggling to find a reason not to pull the trigger. Looks like great value for money.

Hisense seems like a more "dependable" brand right now though in terms of support - but TCL has been around for years as well, so who knows. Hopefully somebody who has experience with this TCL range can chime in.

I haven't looked much at TCL, but having a quick look it doesn't seem to be mini-led, but you do get 144hz (vs 120 on U8H) and provided the SA specs are same as international specs you get a VA panel (vs IPS on the U8H). The best is to go to a shop that has both and see for your self which looks better to you. Also not sure what sort of deals there are on the TCL so not sure what the price diff is

Edit: You get an extra year warranty on the Hisense and potentially better after sales support but I couldn't comment there

Cheers. The C745 is R10999 on Takealot with the U8H still going at R9999. Both 55". Very difficult to find any TCLs on display in Pretoria, or at least the C745. It's a problem.

So my 4 year old UHD TV decided to suddenly switch off and doesn't want to come on again. I've unplugged all HDMIs and just have the power cable in.

The red light flashes for a bit, then rapidly and then goes solid red again.

I've tried power cycling etc. Anyone have any other ideas on what could have happened? It was working perfectly a short while ago.
