Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone has some knowledge re. the personal importation limits of electronic goods into South Africa.
I'm based in the UK and have am planning on making good on the ludicrous black Friday deals here and then bring some things back to ZA for personal and resale purposes. My question is how many Nintendo Switches, PS4's etc can I bring on a flight with me without getting into trouble?
Thanks so much.

Just walk through the green lane, 99% of the time the customs guards don't give a damn

You can import as much as you want. I do not think they have the means to check and if they ever do catch you out, it will simply be a 1 in a billion bad luck incident. I have imported more than 50 products this year valued at over 100k with 3 different courier companies. Have no import license. They all just fly past customs, no questions asked.

In my opinion, the only time when questions will be asked is if you import a large number of the same product at any given time and they suspect you may be a dealer.

If you're carrying it with you in your luggage, you'll probably be okay as long as you don't look as though you've got lots of stuff that obviously isn't yours.

OTOH, I returned from overseas to JHB a few weeks ago and they had pulled an entire flight out (apparently randomly) and they put everyone's bags through an X-ray machine.
