Petition started to remove judge over rape comments

I doubt she has a good enough understanding of African culture to even have an informed opinion on what status women have in a African culture.

Why does a judge even have a facebook account? That is just asking for trouble.

You posted this before but never specified which African culture you were referring to.
Also, the three aspects that you have highlighted pertain to almost every culture, don't they? Especially European cultures.

All of these can be used to value every culture and give you insight into how they will react.
That was the reason that I made the comment on the Xhosa vs Venda, at the moment you can only make an general analysis based on common cultural traits found across African tribes in South Africa.
These would be how Male status/power is viewed within the community. Their acceptance of things they deem wrong IE the corrective rape of lesbians. How male promiscuity is viewed, how men react to rejection, how the view the status of women, mens attempt to regain lost power etc
These are all determined by their cultural programing and is influenced by the meshing of rural and urban culture.
This are all issue that are well know and as I said it could easily be a doctoral thesis

Well said, and if you want a simple example of the commonality of certain aspects of their shared culture with regards to woman, ask the how many of the native kingdoms in this country would allow a female chief/queen?

Sure, but if you look at the values http://www.clearlycultural.com/geert-hofstede-cultural-dimensions/masculinity/
you see South Africa as a country ranks below Japan, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, Germany, United Kingdom and Poland.
It ranks only 1 point above the USA and 2 points above Australia.
So using this Masculinity rating to condemn 'black' culture seems a bit absurd.

Spot on. In a study in England/Wales

- Nearly half a million adults are sexually assaulted in England and Wales each year.

- A third of people believe women who flirt are partially responsible for being raped.

I am glad to see you wrnt and read up. However the numbers shown there were more than likly taken from a cross section of the south african to give a general number. But if you restricted it to the black population you would see different figures, as you refine your results you get closer to a true number. The same would hold true if it was applied to say the white afrikaans population.
I am not using it to condem black culture, it is a tool that can be used to highlight aspects of the culture that may contribute to the problem.

Do you think that there are aspects of african culture that delegate women to a lesser status

Good now use use the whole study to try and isolate the why not just the individual components.
To get the best result you would have to narrow down the parameters. Location, nationality, race, social and economic status etc
You want to see what aspects of their culture contribute to the violance.

Have you done this study? Have you any sources? What does 'more than likely' mean? Have you actually looked at their methodology?
This is the problem with all your 'more than likely's' etc, it exposes your prejudices and bias. It's how you think the world is. It's also typical that you use this scale to back up your argument and then when it's shown to actually oppose your argument then suddenly it's not accurate

Do you think that there are aspects of african culture that delegate women to a lesser status
Yes, in some African cultures more than others, same as there are aspects of some European cultures, Asian cultures, American cultures that delegate women to a lesser status. Do you think this is unique to so called 'african' culture?

Impeaching Judge Jansen would safeguard the integrity of the judiciary

When a judge expresses bigoted views about an entire group of people based on their race, gender, sexual orientation or other characteristics, it taints not only the judge involved, but also the judicial system in which that judge serves. It is for this reason that it is untenable for an openly racist, sexist or homophobic judge to remain on the bench.

have to agree.
