Fuel shortage sees Cape Town’s petrol stations run dry

Various petrol stations have run out of fuel, raising concerns about South Africa’s reliance on imported petroleum, Cape {town} Etc reports.

This is the result of an unforeseen outage at the Astron refinery in Milnerton, which has caused frustration and extended travel times for refuelling.

Residents flocked to social media to report that numerous fuel stations in the Cape Town metro area, including BP, Shell and Engen, are experiencing Unleaded Petrol 95 (ULP 95) shortages owing to persistent troubles at the Astron refinery, forcing some vehicles to travel for hours to fill up.

Speaking to Cape {town} Etc, one petrol store owner said that two boats had docked and offloaded fuel, only to have their cargo rationed as a result of the shortage.

You and I are not the same, I will have been on a range of 0km for 50km, and push the loud pedal to the floor to hear the V6 TDi sing.
Yikes, I dont want my petrol pump to suck in all that bottom of the barrel gunk. Goodluck getting that diesel engine running again after it shuts off from fuel starvation.

Um, yeah, never had any of those issues with any of my cars, although admittedly my older ones don't get run anywhere near dry.

I was wondering why the air seemed fresher than normal. I thought it was because of all the wind.
