Putting my own graphics card in (4670) will upgrade that at a later stage

Any suggestions?

I doubt it, but this price is already R500 cheaper than it was last week

If you going to upgrade your GPU in the future I would say get a stronger PSU or else when you upgrade your GPU you have to upgrade your PSU again.

Its 41A stable on the 12V rail. Ive read of people running i7s and 4870s with hddrives in a 4 X RAID array.

I think it can handle anything thats coming out now and in future for a while at least

Looks good but i would change the ram to ddr2 1066, apparently phenoms run better with them. No idea if it is true but ram is cheap anyway.

Oh pahleez. You could x-fire two 4870s on that psu.

I'd also get 1066 ram.

Can't you get an ati chipset board instead?

Why 1066 i doubt it will run any better than 1%, is ! worth another 200 bucks?

Qwik you know you can edit your posts, are you trying to up your post count? :p

Why not go read the benchmarks on most major hardware sites?

Then you'll have hard data rather than speculation...

For that CPU price you would be better off with an Intel solution unfortunately. I don't see how a $220 CPU (originally now $195) translates into that R3K+ price... The price alone defeats the purpose because the similarly priced Intel CPU would be faster...
And DDR2 1066 would make a difference you could feel and measure, hardly 1%. PhenomII is far more sensitive to DRAM speed and timings than any other AMD CPU before with IMC.

The reason im going amd is the last reviews i read the phenom 2 destroys the q9650 in most benchmarks and as we know that cpu is currently priced quite highly

More or less yes. It's actually closer to the Q9400 which is around R3800.

I am not sure where you got that info from man but the 920 struggle to go toe to toe with the q6600.

It is slightly better than q6600.

For the amount amd wants for this 920 cpu its a rip off.

In the overall competition, where the first line of attack appears in the price segment between $250 and $400, the AMD Phenom II processors place smack in between the already fading Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, and the new Core i7 920 CPUs. Now this is from tomshardware if you don't want to believe me i am sure you will believe the guy who wrote the article.

Quite sad that the new amd phenoms are going up against the q6600, i mean FFS how old is the q6600 now? 3 years? amd's new 920 cpu barely beats a 3 year old cpu, that is how far behind amd is and then they come out with a price almost double that of a cpu they can barely beat. Qwik please check all the benchies before you comment on the 3 you look at where the 920 beats the q6600, sometimes it does sometimes it does not, either way a new amd cpu in 2009 should kick its ass in every single test considering its 3 years.

Whoever is running amd should be fired for being stupid.
