Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

Its in the thread title. Philips or GTFO.

This one is the way to go. Goes on special for R2200 to R2500 frequently.

If its just for chips then the smaller one will be sufficient. But rather go for the XL, once you start with chips you will want to do everything else in it as well
Bliksem that is a lot of money
Thanx
Will start saving up then

Can anyone recommend an air fryer for making slap chips at home using the frozen packets from supermarkets? @Iamn0tageek and I are both looking

Which model is easy to clean, coz we're lazy

Takealot links preferably, Thanx

You can't slap chip in an airfryer. Only oven baked chops will work.

Oven baked are blanched so pre-fryed with some oil on them.

I stopped using my airfryer for chips, rather just use canola oil in my electric skillet, or my convection microwave.

We use the airfryer every morning for kids lunch boxes and sometimes for lunch for me. Too small for dinner time now

This is what I use to deep-fry

Also amazing for soups, stews, frying pan, etc

Takealot are the most expensive though.

I have one at home and one at the holiday flat.

Nope. I do slap chips and crispy. For slap you just start at lower temps. e. g. 160 deg 20mins, flip chips and then another 10 odd mins at 160 deg. But I always pre soak for at least 1 hour or more.

That is not the slap chips Slap Pineapple Smurf is talking about. He is talking about the ones your get from the corner shop with the always shouting Portugase grandmother style.

I prefer potatoes wedges and do them the same as you mentioned in the air fryer for small portions, else the convection ovens (I have two) for family-sized portions. I place them on baking paper to absorb any oils and fats.

not sure if this question has been asked before, however, whats the best cleaning method for cleaning these grease monsters

I have the premium XXL. Was gonna buy from 4Home but they didn't bother to respond to emails or phone calls, so got from Everyshop instead.

This thing does chicken pieces and steak very well. It sort of dries out the fish fillets a bit so the smart feature sucks in that regard.

The thing has two drawbacks.

1. It fills the place with oily smoke. You have to pour some water in the drip tray. The manual does not provide a solution for this, or at least not one that's readily available.

2. The brassy looking control knob in the front is cheap plastic. I touched it for an instant with the hot basket the first time I was using the thing and it melted in two symmetrical spots. It's not even made of brass or copper or even metal plated.

For me the thing cooks chicken pieces very well. Chips are also cooked well. Fish fillets are a little dry. Steak is also done well, or rare if you wish but easy. Smart programs only exist for fish, chips, whole chicken and chicken pieces. It's easy to clean. The basket is a bit large for many dishwashers but it's easy to wipe down with warm water and Sunlight.

I have seen loads of reviewers on Takealot complaining about the enamel starting to come off on their air fryers after some time, like a year after purchase.
This had me concerned, so I consulted Dr Google

And found a YouTube clip where this annoying Yankee chick was explaining do's and don'ts about air fryers and she mentioned that some of those Spray and Cook tins have some type of ingredient that isn't good for enamel.
She advises using normal avocado oil in a spray bottle instead
