As someone with Crohn’s disease I can tell you matter of factly you don’t just get it from something.

This is one of those folklore tales the media ran with back in the day about John’s disease in cows causing Crohn’s disease in humans and everyone ran with it while there is very little factual support for any of it and you’ll struggle to even find the original sources in the here and now.

If there is any genuine correlation to he had it’s more likely a case of people already being predisposed to getting/having Crohn’s being triggered by the bacteria’s that cause John’s disease.

Either way this is ancient stuff from the late 90’s that never went anywhere.

What there is however is a trend in prevalence of Crohn’s Disease in the modern world due to an increase in lactose intake. Even this a bit of hocus pocus though and may relate more to better modern diagnoses than an actual cause.
Could be, like the autism link and vaccines, better tests pick these things up now quicker and easier than before, so it seems there is a marked increase, but it's actually just better testing.
Is there anything they can do for you?

Basically know your diet and what you can and can’t eat. It’s a bit of a journey as it’s different for everyone and often the mind is weak and you just roll the dice eating the thing you know is going to **** you up later.

Outside of that I’m on chronic immune suppressants to keep the body from attacking itself which mostly does the job on a day to day “baseline” level.

Bigger issue is that there is some potential correlation to having either other immune disorders or auto immune diseases and I’m yet to find out if I do have one of those or if my other random issues are simply the same in origin.

I know I don’t have Lupus at least after getting the exact symptoms at one point.

I have extremely sensitive skin, especially on my feet where I’ll just walk a kilometre and have legions on the top where shoes rubbed up against my feet.

Lots of joint pain that comes and goes with activity.

All in all it’s never quite fun but most days you just learn to live with it through pain threshold levelling up I guess.

On really **** days or sucks, but the WFH revolution has made that a lot more accommodating than before.

Wow that sounds like a mission, I'm glad the WFH has helped out. I have an issue with my neck and shoulders from an old rugby injury and grinding my teeth, which causes constant pain in the neck, but that sounds mild compared to what you're going through :-(, especially with 2 kids.
There are no other words really :-( it just sucks man sorry.

It helps a lot knowing at least.

I was only diagnosed formally at age 30-ish so it’s been a solid 10 years and that in itself helped a lot.

Before that you just think you are weak and why is nobody else struggling like this.

I was always called “old” as a bit of an inside joke by all my mates even since high school.

Worst of all is that the default by most doctors is “more fibre” which is the worse thing you can possibly do so many years was self-inflicted suffering not knowing better.

I still fight with Discovery every year and now their criteria for “wellness” simply doesn’t work for anyone but the most perfectly normal of people. Especially ironic since they have all my medical data.

It is what it is.

At least now you know what is causing the issues and can treat it as well as you can. Medical aids are full of sh3432.

Get better shoes

Imagine that I haven’t thought of that.

It has been a journey of every brand and style imaginable.

The only thing that works are Vibram Furoshikis but they don’t work for every situation and also too hot in summer.

I cannot find a sandal that works. Had perfectly fine Bronx leather ones for a good 10 years and finally walked them to pieces and simply cannot find a replacement.

Sweet potato fries? Sounds a little too healthy, next thing you know you’re leaving the couch to operate your AirFryer like a skinny person.

This dam airfryer...

I see myself as a master chef.

It cooks better chops and wors than I do on the braai. Salt, pepper and lemon juice. 13mins. Would do less but got SO and lightweights.

Small potatoes are the business.

Honestly. It's easier and better in the starfish and light a braai for ambiance.

Its tragic.

DNA is a client of my wife's. We're considering getting an airfryer oven but still unsure if we should take the leap. I saw one in store the other day, much smaller (internally) than I thought it would be. Any thoughts? This is a long-ass thread so I'm not sure if you posted any relevant info previously. Anyone else have one the DNA's that can give input?
I haven't used it to its full potential to recommend it, at this stage I think it's a nice to have for me, not a must have. Given half a chance and enough time, I'll always pick a fire over an appliance.
