At least with an Airfryer you don't lose braincells when taking out food from an oven.Send it back - sounds like a dud. It should be burnt to a crisp 18 minutes in.
Oven cooked bacon is better though.

You realise that sentence makes no sense in its current form? Do you want to try again? At least with an Airfryer you don't lose braincells when taking out food from an oven.

Not using any baking paper? You shouldn't anyway but just checking.Huh?
If your remote viewing sense were more developed than your presumption and rudeness then you would this morning have seen exactly what I described above.
This is the 2nd time I've used this airfryer, purchased new from Takealot.
Something's clearly not right.
I've done this many times before on the Ninja 4 Qt, with complete satisfaction. For a reason unknown to me this Philips just doesn't cut it. At least not for bacon.
There is no problem using 'baking paper' if it's well perforated. I only use it when I do chicken with a lot of basting. It does however slow down the cooking by a bit, but marginally. Not using any baking paper? You shouldn't anyway but just checking.

No paper used. My thinking is that paper would impede airflow, defeating the whole concept of force-circulating hot air.Not using any baking paper? You shouldn't anyway but just checking.
Correct and yeah that's weird. Try something simple like toast and see how long that takes. No paper used. My thinking is that paper would impede airflow, defeating the whole concept of force-circulating hot air.
I know these Philips air fryers are not very good, but it should not be that bad.Recently bought a Philips HD9270 XL, mainly to do bacon.
What a disappointment.
After 18 minutes on the default temp of 180 deg C the bacon is still grey and floppy. I want properly crisped bacon.
The Ninja airfryer I have at my place in the US does the bacon perfectly in 7-8 minutes. And US bacon is thicker than typical SA cuts.
I've taken a quick squizz around the ruddy machine to see if all the factory plastic is removed, and it seems clear.
Any experienced airfryer aces have any suggestions?
I agree. Anyone who has an oven, then buys an air fryer has no brain cells to loose. These things are a waste of money - As much a gimmick as the bottled water hype...At least with an Airfryer you don't lose braincells when taking out food from an oven.

Funny I upgraded a Philips Hair cutter yesterday after 6 years and it's still perfect. Paid for itself many times over.I know these Philips air fryers are not very good, but it should not be that bad.
Many people have complained about rust and also fans packing up. Maybe some rust got in the fan while standing in Takealot warehouse.
Philips are known for some bad quality control, so maybe just return it for a new one.
If you can get a refund, maybe look at some better brands like Safeway, Salton, Goldair, Xiaomi, HappyStar, FryNolongTime etc,

It's actually saving me money. Paid for itself already.I agree. Anyone who has an oven, then buys an air fryer has no brain cells to loose. These things are a waste of money - As much a gimmick as the bottled water hype...

I’ve done a few hocks recently too, they all came out great

Ah yes you need to shake that little bit of chips because there's no starfish. I forgot.
