Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

Also made another batch of wings with Hinds Southern Coating and that was great too.

If anyone is feeling adventurous, Casey, Esquire’s sister store is selling the Phillips Avance for R2399. And the Turbostar Viva for R1699.

Picked up the Phillip's XL
today. Any temp and timer tips for
Chips
Chops
Steak etc

I think you get a little recipe book with the Philips, which is very useful, but chips are easy: Wash and slice, let them soak for about 30 minutes, then rinse them, pat them dry, oil and spice them, about 15 minutes on 160C, shaking now and again, then about 10 minutes on 180C, shaking now and again. Timing will vary a bit based on how many chips you are doing, how thick they are and how crispy you like them.

Lol yup, some in this thread deserve commission from generating sales. Did you order from Hirsch?
Hehe, yes, from Hirsch :)

would appreciate any hints or tips please

I buy frozen chips. It's so much more convenient.
I always preheat the airfryer to 180 then I get the chips straight from the freezer and into the basket. I fill about quarter of the basket, or more depending how many people. I leave it at 180 for 5 min then give it a shake. Sometimes I spray a bit of oil but most of the time I don't. I leave it for another 7 - 10 min depending on quantity and it's ready to go.

Most of the time I don't take it out for a shake after 5 min, just need to make sure the chips aren't frozen together. I usually throw it in for 10 - 12 min and go have a shower. Once I'm done I'm ready to eat

We had ours for close to 5 years now and its something that we cannot do without.

We use almost daily for both the kids meals and adult meals. The convenience aspect is brillaint as you can pop in some chips/ chicken pieces /chops and jump in the shower knowing that the timer is set. Its also easier than the oven as do not need to turn whatever you are preparing. All in all one of our best buys. If memory serves me correct I paid about R2500 from takealot. The prices are a lot more competitive now.

Sorry for the double post. These are 2 accessories that may be worthwhile for some folk here.

For the bakers:

For the chefs:

I have both. I don't use the baking bowl very often. But I do use the skewer rack mostly for toast though.

The stuff looks too small.
Is there a bigger version of the Philips Airfryer Baking Accessory for the XL.

The Double Layer Accessory you get for XL.

I use mine daily, the only advice I have is to not be stingy and go for the smaller one but rather the XL!

I acknowledge the convenience, but like the versatility of the unprocessed spud, which can be sliced into thin fries, thick fries, wedges - all in less than a minute! I've even started making butternut fries and it's fantastic.

Oh my soul!! On Sunday before I went to Makro to by the Airfryer, I searched the Hirsch's website for one but in the search bar I typed "airfryer" and it didn't bring up the R1999 one. But if you search "air fryer" it brings it up!
:X3:

What about Sweet potato 'fries' ?

Not yet, but it's on my list! I also want to try those Greek fried eggplants, melitzanes I think it's called. Might be messy, though, I haven't tried anything with a batter yet in the air fryer.
