Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

Thanks. I hope there are some in Gauteng as well damn I wish I still lived in KZN now

Is it a checkers hyper or regular checkers?
Didn't really notice but judging by what they stocked I think it's a Hyper. Went to pavilion yesterday and they didn't have it on promo.

Thanks I will try and check out a Checkers hyper after work. Tried a regular checkers yesterday and they didn't have the slow cooker only the air fryer specials

Got the Phillips Analogue model as I really don't like excessive buttons and screens on a device that is basically on or off.

Very happy so far haven't done much with it but what it has done has been pretty epic. Oven bake chips in the air fryer are faster and a better combination of crispy and fluffy compared to a thermofan oven that I used to use.

I think my only worry is I won't use it as a healthy tool for actual meals but end up making and eating more snack foods because of the convenience. Already did southern fried chicken strips from Woolworths not something that I would even buy before owning an air fryer.

Great choice if you know how to cook. The MBB Philips experts however need those digital preset times. They barely know what a chicken thigh looks like, never mind how long it should cook for.

You can cook chicken pieces. It's not a knockoff Goldair. Good choice nontheless.

Yes and I have a thermocouple instant read thermometer so I can use that as I get used to the cooking time of the air fryer

The answer is yes. No need to waste 22 minutes.
I know every opportunity to get your post count up is tempting but please don't be an annoying troll for once in your life.

There is a point on acrylamide that is interesting.
<10mcg/kg in oil fried chips vs 1400mcg/kg in air fried chips. Even the Philips guy has recommendations on how to limit exposure.

So if the acrylamide is so high in the air fryer isn't it worse for you?

Edit so I watched that part of the video, so people are cooking too hot and too long in the air fryer and that causes higher levels of acrylamide?

Correct.
There is some debate about acrylamide and its effects but it is not great. It's better not to have it for sure.
Air fryers do have many other health benefits though (as pointed out in the video) and acrylamide levels can be kept low if you know how to.

Lol yeah sure.
Air-frying reduced acrylamide content by about 90% compared with conventional deep-oil-frying without being necessary the application of a pretreatment.

Have you been Googling frantically for 45 minutes trying to find something?
Why didn't you say that up front?
On the up side at least you are actually contributing for once.
Lol no the video was posted before...

This video has a researcher finding 13000% higher levels of it in air-fried potatoes. 10m10 in.

Assuming it is accurate, the researcher also notes that there are no guidelines of what constitutes dangerous levels of Acrylamide in food for humans.

R50 says airfryers will be used as the scapegoat for the spike in cancers, as not to blame a certain vaccine...
