Okay, the one thing it doesn’t work for is homemade pizza.

Firstly getting pizza in and out is a bitch, after compromising on the size of course.

But even if you make it in the Air Fryer it’s just impossible to get it to cook perfectly.

Frozen pre-made mini pizzas are fine though.

Yeah, pizzas don't work for me.

By the second round with an almost instant dough recipe I was getting better at it, but still to feed a family it was simply more active time in the kitchen than using conventional oven or when the braai.

If making a quick lunch snack stick to frozen mini pizzas.

If going for real pizzas use the oven and do a bunch at once.

Pretty much... But fscked if I was gonna spend r2k+ on something that could turn out to just be another kitchen gadget in my house... I'm an old school type of cook.. I likes stove and oven.

Got one for Christmas yesterday, cooked a whole packet of bacon in it this morning :)

Works a treat
In one batch? There might be some value to me for one of these things after all.

How long did it take?

We usually do a pack or two at a time in the oven but it takes 20-23 minutes from start to finish.

Depends on how crispy, or not, you want the bacon.. at 200c, you can get super crispy bacon in 10 minutes..

About 8 minutes for me.

Easily does one pack.

Could probably do two happily if you shake it every so often but won’t cook as evenly I reckon.

Personally I like it uneven.

It is essentially a very compact and therefore fast oven that doesn’t have a baking tray in the way at the bottom.

It's worth spending that money. It's way more fun and convenient that an oven :p

^^ Yep. Plus clean-up's a doddle compared to big oven, especially for spitty bacon. I just pour soapy water into the pan while still hot. Burned stuff wipes off real easy, no scraping after a short soak.

Also easy to pour meat juices into a pot to make gravy. Best grill/bake thing we ever bought.

Not too crispy, unless it's for salads.

Needs to be evenly cooked for us.

I cook bacon on baking paper, works better than foil as it turns out, so cleanup is super simple. Ball up the paper and bin it. ;)

I've got some takealot vouchers but we're looking to move so perhaps I need to backburner it until then.

This cleaning being easier thing is a weird one for me.

I don’t know anyone who cleans their oven every time they use it. More like once every six months or so.

Washing a pan can be easier than washing the air fryer many times and mostly no more effort.

So that is a horrible oversell in my opinion.

Saving of power and speed of cooking would be my punt to potential new comers.

Yeah if I do it in the oven then that’s how I go about it too.

In air fryer no need for any of that.
