Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

I cook bacon on baking paper, works better than foil as it turns out, so cleanup is super simple. Ball up the paper and bin it. ;)
I used to do that in the oven but bacon still splattered. In AF I use baking paper under things like chicken kiev when buttery filling might leak and burn on the metal grill, but bacon /chops etc. go directly on AF grill so the heat circulates properly - cooks both sides at once.

I don’t know anyone who cleans their oven every time they use it. More like once every six months or so.
Neither do I, six monthly oven clean sounds about right :D, but a few months of bacon splatter in the oven was much harder to shift . I find washing the AF every couple of uses easier, but probably because I have the small one.
 
Unless it is a Philips, you will have NO idea if it works or not. Life is too short to buy anything else. So stop waisting time (and money) and get the Philips XL.
Disregard this. He hasn't used anything else so no way to say that it better or worse than the Philips.
 
Bought the missus a cheepish one as a tester to see if the concept works for us..... Figure it will take awhile to get used the idea...

There are enough buying options from refurbished or waiting for a sale.
 
Well she cooked bacon in it yesterday and it came out OK.... Time will tell whether you lot are all just trying to justify why you spent the money on a random kitchen gadget or not :p...

Aah I suspected it was a every couple of uses instead of every time.

I can’t possibly do that unless i made bread only.

I'm still super impressed with the Philips Airfryer and I wish I've done this a lot earlier. I've made the following:

Salmon, ribeye, lamb sausages and a flatty chicken. All was very good and will do it again :whistling:

One big plus for me is that you don't have to always just braai or oven it. I would recommend the grill, pan and the cups accessories for Philips Airfryer. (Geewiz has some of them cheaper than TA/SLS)

I had a cheaper AF for a long time. It worked fine, but since I upgraded to the Philips all I can say is wow. Should've done it ages ago.
 
In one batch? There might be some value to me for one of these things after all.

How long did it take?

We usually do a pack or two at a time in the oven but it takes 20-23 minutes from start to finish.

Entire pack slightly overlapped, takes 7min
 
Thanks - not much for overlapping, it always leads to complications, but I appreciate the feedback.

You forget there is a lot of air movement inside the air fryer so it doesn’t just sit there.

Also, as it curls they pull apart.

Give a quick shake half way and the overlapping doesn’t matter.

Curled bacon? FWIW the ultimate quick cook bacon is in the chip frier, but it comes out curled as well.

It’s full of fat that curls? How does one make bacon that isn’t curled?

Flat as a board when I cook it in the oven. Movie star quality. If you wanted to photograph the perfect strip of bacon it would come from the oven. ;)

Well I prefer them curly then.

Flat as a plank just sounds weird.

I used to make it in the oven and never took note of it specifically.

Only matters how it tastes.

I guess with lower heat you’d accomplish it in the AF too, but then takes longer.
 
I love the detail we are going into about cooking the ultimate piece of bacon. This is amazing!

Actually, I have a Midea as well and it's almost on par. Cooks a little bit slower but then it is a lot larger than the Philips model I have.

I've done all the above except salmon. I've also done pork belly in it. Came out rather well.
