I have used one of the very old acdsee programs to watch any format pic but got supicious that it clashes with windows XP. I loaded picasa and adobe photoshop starter edition but this does not work so well. advise please as to what pic program is better and stable to use.

Just to view pictures you can use Irfanview, it's free.

To edit pictures, see if you can't buy Corel Photoimpact somewhere, it's a great program

Pleasure. Photoshop is much more advanced, but I've used Photoimpact in the past and it worked very well for what I needed to do.

I also used ACDSee for years and found Infranview to be very similar.
