Hi all

So if you been following my tread of my car
I've been without wheels for an entire week,

Still with no joy from my mechanics for a week,
They tried absolutely everything they could think of, and 3 diffrent ecu specialists all tried what ever they could think of, including one from auto ecu,

At this point gonna let kia rip me a new hole to breathe out of,

Or maybe not,

Everytime i started my car, i noticed on the cluster the check engine and Immobilizer come on, and then go off as a test,
Both are yellow so they easy to spot,

What happens now is the temp guage comes on (never did that) and no service or Immobilizer lights illuminate,

Seems strange and I'd love to know what should come on when you turn the key to confirm my suspisions

I did try with my spare key if that helps,
No joy,

I don't want to tow to kia agent and have them charge me a small fortune just for some loose wire, or saying what i think is the problem,

Anybody able to post what their picanto does when you turn the key to acc on?

Do yourself a favour and get hold of an ELM237 OBDII reader and stick it in the Picanto. The connector should be underneath your knees if you are sitting in the driver's seat, under the dash. Buy Torque Pro (IF you are using Android) or OBD Fusion (iOS) or similar car diagnostic software and pair the dongle to your phone and run the diagnostics on it. This should at least give you an idea of what fault codes are stored in the ECU and where to start looking.

It's not guaranteed but it's better than not knowing at all. Just make sure the ODBII reader is version 1.5 or above; lower version have been known not to work with certain models.

I have one of these http://www.dx.com/p/elm327-obdii-bl...s-transceiver-dongle-blue-183801#.VbvC4_mqpBc and it works perfectly on my i30. Took three months to get here, though so you might want to find a local supplier or someone who is willing to let you borrow one for a few hours

Good luck

EDIT: Mind posting the original problem you were having? Sounds a lot like the coil in your ignition might be faulty, thereby not picking up the small chip inside your key that turns off the immobilizer when the key is in the ignition

Which year picanto do you have?

2010, its the phase 2 one, with the round lights,

Also i do have a elm327, and i did plug it it, and it lead me to a wild goose chase with fuel pumps and whatnot with relays and fuses,

Its been with the auto electrician for more that a week, they've dismantled and checked my entire wiring loom, checked what's common, and 3 diffrent ecu guys took a look,

I've managed to stump everybody ,

I'm now thinking what i do notice, no check engine light that comes on as a test, and no Immobilizer/transponder light on start up,

This is the only odd things i notice,

I'm checking here on mybb if anybody else had anything similar?

Sure, ill post my original problem,
Car wont start, engine cranks, head light come on , and can't jump or push start my car,

Problem happened as i was driving home on the n3, engine just died and coudnt get it going again,

Elm327 led me to belive problem with my fuel pump, as it said fuel pressure low in all 4 cylinders,
Towed home, checked all fuses and relays, nothing blown,
Took it to 1 mechanic, said dosent know, eventually took it to auto electrician, still can't help, see post above,

At this point need to take it to kia, and remorgage the house to pay for it,

Really don't want to do this, if i can avoid it,

That's why I'm now thinking what else i notice, no engine lights, or immobilized light that comes on as a test, always did it before, and I'd hear the fuel pump energize

Nothing now.....

Reading a few threads on the Kia forum point to the fuel pump fuse, a 10A that keeps on blowing.

I assume the ECU guys should have checked that though?

Yeah i did as well,
Small fuse marked inj? Inside car,

Yip checked, no help there on kia forums, posted there already as egkia123

No joy there, they deal more with us bound kia's

How bad was the accident before you bought it?

ROTFL nothing bad besides a few bumper bashings, but that's from before i had it,
Bumper needs a good respray and all will be well,

As far as i know never been in any major accident, but was pimped, slowly but surely all that nonsense has come off, so its back to stock now

This is a strange one.

The lack of a CEL points to an ECU issue. The lack of transponder light should mean that it is picking up your chip inside the key (ignore what I posted previously, wasn't thinking properly) and disarming the immobilizer. If you don't hear the fuel pump priming when the car key is turned to ON, it could mean a problem with a fuse, something in the wiring loom or a control module. One would think the auto electricians would have seen to this, though.

As an aside, have you tried disconnecting your battery -ve terminal and left it disconnected overnight? Pump the brakes to rid the system of any residual current. It helped for an intermittent issue with the BCM on my i30 so just maybe it helps yours as well.

Could be the transponder antenna in the ignition.

Wild guess.

I'm beginning to belive that's the cause,

How could one check? I mean i DONT see all the lights when the key in acc position,

Can only kia help me now? As i really don't want to go that route unless no choice....

Did all that, when it was at the electricians, they left my battery disconnected overnight,

Did every trick they could think of, and after a week no joy.....

I'd actually think I'd be the opposite, everytime I'd turn the key I'd light up the key symbol and engine light and prime the pump,

Now none of those lights, i get battery, oil and temp (that wasn't there before), and park brake,

Gonna try get you guys codes(if i still find any)
As i got strange ones before.....

I would love you to take the car to my dads, shop, but I don't want to cost you any more money.

PS, have you taken it to brodies garage?

You in jhb? Got a tow truck? Pm me I'm willing for anything besides kia that gonna charge me a kings ransom.....

And then he also doesn't know whats wrong? It will make my dad look like a fool.

Not more than the 3 specialists that know French and Korean well, and the electrician and the mechanic,

I've stumped all the professors, belive me can't be any worse.....

Have you taken it to brodies garage?
