Ive also had on a ford bantam where the chip aerial ( cant think of the name at the moment) its a ring that sits round the barrel to energise the chip, but on this bantam it somehow unplugged it self.but the bantam wouldnt swing or anything.

I know the Launch diagun tells you if the key has been read or not when you plug the machine in not sure on the kia's.
When did it stop.on the road or did it just not start up one day?
Get a quote from Kia or otherwise get expert electrician for some aftermarket chopping
How far are you from roodepoort?
Quite far but doable, next to eastgate shopping centre,
If you continue down on jhb ring road, I'm just after alberton. Next to gillolies interchange
I see you say it happened will driving.have you checked relays like the ecu relay or the ignition switch might not be telling the ecu to come on.
I think you said you tried different ecu's?
Did try guys ho checked ECUs, they all agreed ecu in perfect condition, relays good, fuses good, car been for a week with no joy from anybody at the electricians,
They stripped and examined my entire loom, all perfect, can only possibly be this aerial story
Ya they double everything when they see a towtruck
Too bad you can't take out the aerial and have then diag it in site without the car. Suppose it has to calibrate with your ecu hey. Modern cars eish
Lol.its a pity your a bit far out.otherwise i could have plugged my launch into it and see what it says.
Goodluck.hope its a simple thing
Yeah thanks, do really highly appreciate the offer,
Problem is the towing, otherwise I'd be happy to come visit you as I'm quite desperate.....
Roodepoort okes are very knowledgeable and they have to be because it's a small circle of guys there. They've helped me out on many occasion. Just doubt they'd be able to tell you what you don't know already at this stage.
But think of it this way. If you make it clear to the Kia guys that you just want them to check the ignition and immobiliser first, and let you take it elsewhere if that's not the problem, you should be able to get out with minimum rugburn. Maybe you could even convince one of the guys to come take a look off the books. If all else fails jack someone's ecu!
