I bought a bath foam from PnP two weekends ago, according to the ad I was supposed to get a shower gel with it. I was told by the cashier that she "thinks" they are finished because she hasn't seen em. I told her but the ad paper is new,so they must still be there, I asked for the manager but the supervisor was sent. She passively told me those things were not delivered,,,,,(not my problem, I thought),,,She took my number and said the manager will phone me, I asked for manager's number but she said I can get a store number on the receipt. Today, two weeks later no one has called me.
Why did they advertise the product and not get it ready for customers?

Would you have bought it without the enticing promise of free gel? Do they win or lose if they don't actually supply it?

Therefore the answer is simple. They are suckering the public and don't buy the excuses about not getting stock. That is illegal in itself.

you should ave asked for a 'rain cheque' I normally do that its valid for a month, and as soon as they have it in store you pick it up and the give it to you for whatever the price was in this case free (I have done it for free items too)

Similar thing happened once. So i just went to another PnP the next time I was near one and got it there.

The thing with the CPA is that it is meant to be fair to the customer and the company.

I work in retail, clothing, specifically in advertising and when we prep for photoshoots the stock that we shoot has, in most instances not even arrived in SA. we start our photoshoots atleast 1.5 months before the actual promotion breaks. Sometimes, late in the day, a mess up occurs, like a delayed ship , and the product we advertised never arrives! these are circumstances beyond our control.obviously,we take the customers details whom want the product and contact them when it arrives, we also give it to them at the advertised price.

The point I am trying to illustrate is that there is a lot that could go wrong. I think you should speak to them and find out why exactly did they not have stock? Also, I find it shocking that no one contacted you.

yep just get a rain cheque and go back to check in a few days if you dont get a call from them

You can phone them and log an official complaint. Normally PnP takes their customer service serious. Details on who to phone or mail can be found here.

I'm not afraid to complain or compliment but I've found with Pick 'n Pay your experience will depend on what type of store it is. I had an issue with a store that is franchised and the regional manager was as pathetic as the store in question, then the other Pick 'n Pay which is owned by PnP was fantastic all the way.

Yes Lounger I would have, it's a foam bath that I always buy so this was gonna be a "thank you" sort of.

I understand that Wallsend, I've had a similar occurance(although I was surprised),I was looking for a book and was told that the ship sunk,it was a surprise as I went there to buy a book and for some reasons I didn't even stop to think of how books get to the shop, however after a week I was contacted and I just went to collect my book:)

Thanks AxelBlue,I wish all people could respond,,,,,,,the likes of Woolworths, these people never ever respond I wonder what they take us(customers) for, anyway that will be a topic for another day.

Thanks for subscribing.

Speaking of promises, have you dropped the Pick 'n Pay ones(was it 11?) where you say you will deliver items not in stock, open another till if there's a queue, give an item free if the shelf price doesn't match etc?

The signs in the stores have been removed.
