Pick n Pay False Promise

In life there are some things worth making a scene about, I don't consider shower gel to be one of them.

Pick 'n Pay had a special on All Gold Tomato Sauce where you get a packet of tomato paste with it. I find the bottle and the sign stating that you get a packet of tomato paste but i don't see the sachet so we go to the till and ask the girl who asks the supervisor and she goes and gets it.

Why don't they just stick the 2 items together?

WW had a similar thing with their 2L milk where you were supposed to get the 500ml free. Of course they never had enough 500ml on the shelf. Also the girls at the tills would never remind you to get your free one.

Poor stock management combined with little incentive to give anything away = SA retail.

I had and still have a problem with their bread shelves. The bread is packed neatly ok but under the wrong prices and I spoke and emailed the management of pick and pay to sort it out and they told me it is the supplier and they will sort it out. I still see the bread in the wrong places and this is months now.

When it comes to specials, they should combine the 2 articles that are on special to make it easier for the general public to see and to just grab.

I've had tellers at woolies inform me of specials etc. Guess like everything it depends on where you go.

I also noticed that pnp has taken those promise signs down. The pnp hypermarket in norwood is terrible with regards to this. They have so many tills but usually there are huge queues. I actually prefer to shop at spar or checkers now.

You can be sure that head office knows about it and has contacted the store. However in my own experience, whether the store acts on the advice or suggestion is hit and miss. Our local P&P won't put prices on their bakery items (only about 70% of items) and quality is very variable - depending on the shift. Their wares tend to be fresher than other local stores, but they still won't resolve the problem, which on the face of it, would be very simple.

Hi waynegohl. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will pass this onto our Marketing team as well and will suggest this to them for any future promotions as well. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Hi Lounger. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Kindly provide us with the name of the store in which this occurred and we will address this with the store management as well. Kindly advise if you did get the 500ml milk as well and the date that this occurred.

Now that is going the extra mile.

Hi rorz0r. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Regarding the Norwood store, we will speak to the store management regarding both the long queues at the tills and the Promise signs in the store.

I think this is just bloody awesome that Pick n Pay has a rep on this forum!

To me it means they take customer service very serious!

Well done guys! Nothing to complain about from me! But will certainly bring it to your attention if I encounter any problems.

Seriously, this is just common sense! What kind of marketing team do you have there? Doh!

i think one that copies a another big retailer
the other one has been running these free deals for quite some time and they always have the free items close to the ones you have to pay for

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The Pick 'n pay in question would be the Milnerton Branch in Centre Point.

The shelf packers, whomever they are, must make sure that the correct bread is under the correct price sticker. The branch manager told me that people will pick up a loaf and then decide to take another brand and just dump that first loaf anywhere on the shelf and i accept that but when a whole brand is packed nicely over multiple prices it gets annoying and confusing.

You would think that a bottle of All Gold with a free Tomato Paste sachet would be on the shelf stuck to one another. This makes it easier for the customer to just grab and go then having to go look for the sachet somewhere down the isle or in another isle altogether.

Why would you buy All gold when only Heinz make proper tomato sauce?

I was weaned on All Gold, there were times I had the poor mans friend tomato sauce that stained plastic plates but All Gold is my favourite.
