I'm busy doing some custom designs for my Ubuntu desktop too. Will look really nice when I finally finish.

*This is my 3000 post*

Thank you taken me 8 months, I fear it will take you 3;)

*sorry for the derail*

I don’t know, I’m slowing down a bit, got a nice contract and that will keep me busy for a couple of weeks. So perhaps 3.5 months :D

"still on the derail"

I noticed you have been quite for a while. Enjoy the contract mate

*and yet it continues*

Enjoy? I don’t know, I would enjoy sailing around and doing some island hopping, but ja I like my work, so it’s ok.

"topic hopefully not destroyed"

Oh well then it is ok, in a couple of weeks time to catch up again over a beer or two. Yeah things almost back to normal for me again.

Although Linobuntu is something exciting

*RIP Thread*

Yes, I have been following that, keeper does nice work, I set some time aside next week to try my first Linux, I’m going with Ubuntu and downloaded the alternate, don’t want to use the live cd. Let me know when yours is done, I’ll give that a go also.

"Been nice knowing ya thread"

WIll do, take care bro and chat again. Good luck with your website etc. Cheers

Okay, to bring this back on track....

I'm not sure one could say "7 easy steps to pimp..." whatever desktop, for me personally it takes very long to find just the right elements. I browse KDE-look quite often and in the 3.5 days it may be a week and I'll have a desktop with which I'm very pleased! More often than not it will take much, much longer, even a couple of months to find the right combination of colour, icons and styles, from the Lilo boot screen to the KDE exit dialogue.

It is one thing to know where to click to change the background, it is an entirely different to find that "perfect" combo that makes you smile every time you turn on the monitor!

Personally I don't "pimp" my desktop. It evolves as I work, with changes made as I go a long to make things easier for me. Kinda like sanding down a board till it's nice and smooth.
