A young Cape Town man is dead after one of the pit bulls he owned mauled him to death.

Jason Waverly died on the stoep of his Retreat home on Sunday afternoon after one of his three dogs bit him in the neck.

But neighbours say they are not surprised that the fearsome dogs turned on Jason.

A neighbour says she often witnessed the 21-year-old being physically abusive towards the animals.

"Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon I saw him coming out of the house with one of the dogs on a leash then the smaller dog came and jumped through the gate," said the neighbour.

WD Mr. Pitbull

And he still wants to go to Survivor.

edit:

"The deceased's family asked to remove the dog along with two other pit bulls and put them all to sleep," he said.

What's wrong with saying kill the bitches?

i have a friend who lives in this guys road, she knew him and apparently the stories about him abusing the dogs are wildly exaggerated, seems two of the dogs were fighting and he tried to separate them.

Still, if you abuse your animal at all, you dont deserve to have ownership of the animal. Especially with Dogs, something like this is bound to happen if you abuse your dogs, even lightly. Pit Bulls are a nasty bread to have though as you have to be very firm with them. As said in the article, one sign of weakness and they will snap.

serves him right..........every dog gets his day!!

And every pig get's it's weekend.

Good dog. Kill!!!

Retreat Pit Bull owners are well known for their involvement in the infamous Western Cape dog fights. I hope they all get mauled! Scum!

Agreed.

No. Your properly-bred Pit is more human-friendly than almost any other dog. Think about it - they've had to be, and this standard was reinforced by deliberate culling in the bad old days.

I don't know the truth of what happened here, as the press love anything with PitBull in the title, regardless of the facts.

Being an abused dog gives you not many options.

Either you bite/kill your owner and you get killed in response or you take the abuse for the sad, sorry 12 years of your life.

That's exactly what happened to my dogs, a pitbull and a staffie. Tried to separate them and got a bite in the hand. Obviously that was dumb of me but I panicked *shrugs*. The water came in handy though. And the pitbull was the quiet and playful one.
