We are considering some forum changes, based on user activity and recent changes to the site. Here is the plan:

  • Remove the “IT Jobs Wanted, and Skills Offered” forum (the new IT Jobs Portal offers this functionality – just better).
  • Remove the “Member request forum” under Hardware and Software Dealers (it is not used)
  • Make “CPA, Telecoms Regulation and Consumerism” a sub-forum under “Business, Finance, and Start-ups” (it is too quiet to justify a top-level forum)
  • Remove the “User reviews” forum (it is not used, and people can use any other forum for reviews in that sector)
  • Combine “Forum suggestions” and “First posts” (the activity in these forums are very low)
  • Remove the “Mafia forum” (unless it will be used again?)
  • Remove the ISDN, Sentech MyWireless, and Wimax forums (those forums have no activity, and the tech is no longer widely used)
  • Remove the Fixed Broadband forum (low activity, and other forums serve that purpose)

Please Note: All the posts from the "removed forums" will be migrated to another forum first. No posts will therefore be lost.

Your feedback on these planned changes will be great.

For the last 2 items, you can remove them but jeep the posts available somewhere at least?

Time for Mafia to sleep with the fishes.

About time Forum suggestions and First Posts as I always got confused with them.

Sounds good.

Please also correct the spelling on "PC Vita" in the console gaming subsection while you're at :P

Agree with this one, even if you make an Archive forum and have these as sub-forums, a bit of history if you will call it that.

Looks good.
Allow comments on job ads please. Sometimes the ridiculosity just begs to be pointed out, bluntly. I know this because I have green bermudas and I once cheated at an air hockey match.

You need to take this seriously, I am a multiple great-forumite nominee and thus one of the elite of the elite.

+1
It only makes job specs to be ridiculed whenever there is a loss or misunderstanding that the recruiter is failing to get across.
It would make the recruiter a better recruiter as well so their job growth will be earned this way.

Sounds good.

Can we have the option to block the IT Jobs for the New Posts search? Or will that stop with the shutdown of the forum?

*edit* maybe have a widget on the left like the one on stack overflow?

You already have the option to block that, or any other section, by creating a custom Search.

Does'nt that require you to go into the search each time? I like the todays post search link and use it 99% the time I browse the forums.

No, you just bookmark it.

Just one addition - add the option for delivering a nasty electric shock via keyboard to a trolling/clone account
We are already working on that. It is still in its early development phases, and there have been a few casualties, but we are confident to have a working solution soon.
