If you consider R7700 to be a middle class salary, then yes, I think miners should get that, at the very least. Otherwise let the share holders swing the pick axe themselves...

How could I nullify an official document? It should be taken as given that a poster provides a source for any factual statements they make as argument. Having said that, I don't see anything in that article indicating that when targets are met they can earn up to R17 000 a month

And now since you can see that a normal worker at A platinum mine actually earns r9297, and can earn more if they want?

Let's get back to the topic,They did earn R9297 and can earn more if they work more efficiently . And now that the r5500 has been blown out of the water?

What happened now? They earn more the are taxed d more and in the end the get how much more out of it?

I just think it would be much simpler if they got paid decently instead of getting all these extra allowances. Increase their salary by R2000 and forget the housing allowance, etc. All these allowances are silly, I mean what are you going to do with a R500 holiday allowance? Just pay them R9297 a month salary...

Because a lot of these allowances are probably tax deductible, whereas a lump sum gross salary would not be - at a guess?
Also guessing that some of these allowances are optional - eg you get the housing allowance if you choose not to live in mine-provided housing.
