How to?

I wan to operate via PC / stream via PC. Not phone to PC (I know of ES File Explorer and the like)

Help appreciated!

Bubble UPnP. Choose the renderer (your phone) and the library (your PC). You operate it from your phone unfortunately.

From recent experience...you might want to consider a simfy subscription instead.

I struggled with plex... Dunno why... Perhaps I should just take some time and read up on it.
Should be simple really. I run Plex on multiple devices (Roku's, laptops, cellphones, tablets, etc...) and it's hundreds on all.

What problems did you experience?

If I get what you're saying, I play movies on my phone from my Samba server via ES explorer. I can browse and play.

If you get stuck ask here or on the Plex forums.

You can play back to any of your connected devices from the Plex interface.

Plex or BubbleUPnP
I use plex as the media server on the Pc
And both Plex and Bubble as the renderer on the android depends which one i feel like using on the day, they both have their strengths

Stupidity, laziness, patience... Pick any of them or combination.

In sure it is not rocket science... I must just take time to set it up properly.

It's really worth it to get it working well.

What is very handy is the offline sync to your mobile devices. When going on business trips or holidays I do a simple sync with a bunch of movies and shows, and disappear with a full offline Plex experience. Set your mobile Plex client to work as a server, and the family can stream to their Plex devices over wifi. We do this for long car trips too.

Plex is king IMO.

Thanks Mike, I promise I will look into it

Plex is great. Don't like the subscription thing though.

You can use the free version for streaming but not for offline downloads. If you want to download for offline viewing use Bubble. Bubble free will let you download movies one at a time and Bubble paid app will let u download multiple files at once.
But use plex as the server its the besr.
