Playstation 3 claims not allowed

I guess they got carried away with the "success"of the thing.

how is reporting false advertising dumb ? do you know how many gullible consumers they are ? you telling me ps3 is 8 times faster than the fastest computer ?

It says most computers, not the fastest computer...
 
RISC processors (in dedicated purpose machines) are known to be many times faster than CISC processors (in pc's) due to their reduced instruction set. The processor is built specifically for a task e.g. gaming.

So Sony may be right in their advertising. But unless they provide some performance figures we'll never know.

I mean, honestly there was silly advertising with the 360 too... that stupid FIFA 07 Ad where the guy says something like "and it comes with a portable harddrive now too, so you can bla bla bla bla"
It never had a fixed HDD!!! maybe I'm being fickle ;) but I hate that Ad...
 
i don't know a single person that liked that ad. it was a terrible advert with 26 year old jocks trying to look cool.

OH, check the sunday times magazine too...
says something like:
"The Blu-Ray really makes a difference, it makes playing fun and interesting" LMAO
 
This is a victory for consumerism and should be highlighted and encouraged. As someone else said, the PS3 (being the latest technology to be released) may indeed offer superior performance over older technology but all claims should be accurately benchmarked before making any claims and companies / advertising agents should start to hold integrity above misleading statements simply to make a sale.

I believe that the uninformed consumers have the right to not be misled and I'm proud to have been involved in this.
 
They've always claimed their consoles are better than PC's

PS1- power of 4 Pentiums
PS2 - as above
PS3 - I guess they don't want to talk about the dual cores so now they just say any old tripe to inform people that the console is better than the PC. Well without any solid performance data, how can we tell.

In my experience with consoles the top-range PC is always a bit ahead of the consoles. After all, the software on the console is developed on high-end PC's not so?
 
Why did Mr. SR McDonald, Mr. Craig Nicholson, Mr. Gareth Seiler and Mr. L Goller dispute this claims anyway or do they have financial interests in Xbox or Wii. Specs are all relative and performance depends on many different things besides a few parameters, at the end of the day people will buy it depending upon their own taste. I love the way marketing gets people to believe in stuff. Just the other day I saw a white Land Rover Discovery 3 smoking badly while the guy was driving on the N1 just like one of those old cars in the townships.
 
I would presume they where interested in gaming and where upset to see blatant false advertising.

Why are so many people against them pointing out something blatantly wrong? Weird :confused:
 
At the time the PS3 was designed (not yet produced) the RSX was twice as powerful as Nvidia top line GFX card, think it was a 7800 or 6800 not sure but obviously been major advances in 3 years, so these claims are not as wrong as they are outdated...
 
@JetPac: I hate propaganda, be it political or idiots trying to rip people. Not I'm not a fanboi and when the prices is at a respectable level I will be buying a ps3. just not now. Nothing justifies it, I'm not interested in a single of a the current generation games for ps3
