Playstation 3 - second hand?

Just checked L&L - the 40gb is R4899 on their online site and HiFi is R5399 for the 80GB

Still cheaper to get the 40 and then buy the games separately.

I mean the 80GB at Look and Listen is the same price as the 80GB at Hifi Corp - in that case I'd rather get it at Look and Listen.

The difference between the 40GB at Makro and the 80GB at L&L is R1400, if you take into account the price of two games, lets say R1100. That means for R300 on the 40GB + two games, you get the 80GB...

The games are R400 a piece at Take2 :)

yeah, If you don't want a game on release day you can pick 'em up for anything from R250 to R450, either new or pre-owned. It makes it a bit better and more in line with what PC games costs :) Looking at LBP price now, around R750 ouch!! Dunno if I should pre-order or if I will find a pre-owned copy anytime soon after release.

R5400 (or R3999) for a new one - buying a second hand one at R3500 to R4500 doesnt seem to appealing anymore.

Guess so, but that specific one comes for the Ps3 Eye, but I see it doesn't have an extra controller so that kinda cancels it out, and with a new one you get full warranty (not that you will need it :) )

Well, just shop around. Your sure to find a deal your happy with.

The other thing is the 80gb version comes with a dualshock3, the 40gb comes with 2 x older controllers.

Decisions decisions. Dunno if I should wait for XMas and see if they have specials on the 80gb versions or get the R3999 offering?

Does the 80GB at L&L come with the dual shock?

My girlfriend has now changed her stance - saying playstation will equal no sex

haha ... hope its not the dual shock ;)

The eye is a camera and used with some games but not many. Eye of Judgement for instance uses it to check what cards you are playing so that it can spawn the 3D creatures on your screen.

Cool... Anyways, I bought the 80GB from L&L with my ebuck :)

Busy installaling GT5 Prolog at the moment.... lets see how it goes

afaik its a dualshock? xrapidx can you confirm?

How does the ebucks work - do you need a ebucks card to buy it? I've got enough ebucks to buy one as well but have never gotten a ebucks card

Yeh - you need the card - lets not talk about how long it took me to find the card.

You can order a card from the ebucks site, but AFAIK it takes 3 weeks.

You use the ebucks card as you would a debit card, you swipe it, put in a pin....and thats it.

PS3 80GB:
Yup, 1x Dual Shock controller.

Now for more bad news, PS3 only has optical out, so my home theater now also needs upgrading - does it ever end.

Only has optical out as opposed to what?

You can connect it via RCA?

Single Coax to the amp - my speaker system is old.

Anyways -my gf feeling sorry for me having spent a fortune on the TV and Playstation for Bluray bought the home theater yesterday. Samsung HT-AS725 Component system. Try find it on the interwebz, I couldn't find anything.

So now I have a pretty decent system:
Samsung Series 5 46" HD-LCD
Samsung HT-AS725 7.1 system.
Sony PS3 for Bluray.
Windows Media Center with Coaxial out to amp, upscalled to 7.1 running at 1080p.

Out of interest - A standalone bluray player was R3999 at Hifi Corp... so I think the PS3 was the best bet.

Freaking Playstation had to download a 140mb update for me to create an online account.

Played Unreal last night - I don't think I'm popular with the neigbours.

LOL - neighbours probably don't think its so nice.

Where's the best place to get a second controller? Getting in trouble at home cause only one person can play at a time :(
