Playstation 3 - second hand?

Quick question - reading up on controllers, what do they mean by "The DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller includes pressure sensors that rumble with each action. SIXAXIS technology is also included, so you can still use motion control, and the controller features Bluetooth technology for wireless gameplay."

Whats the motion control?

DUALSHOCK3 includes vibrate and motion sensing. Sixaxis only supports motion sensing.
Bottom line - get a DUALSHOCK3. ;)Motion control is used in some games, ie Army of Two it's used to reload (give the controller an upward flip) or Ratchet and Clank for various mini-games, like lasering through a wall. (move the controller in a wii-like way).

Ah - thanks. Thats quite cool. Didn't know it could do that. I have one dualshock - doesn't vibrate that much...

Yeah, its coolness really depends on the game though. Most racing games on the PS3 also support it, but it just doesnt work with racing games. It's best implementation is with the small things (like mentioned above). FOlklore also used it well in that you had to lock onto a creature, and shake the controller in a specific way (depending on the souls's colour) to capture it a la Ghostbusters.

Also need to get a Bluray remote... damn controller is annoying for watching movies.

Online setup is real easy. Connect ethernet cable from PS3 to PC and detection should happen automatically. Register on the PSN and voila, you can access the store, buy games in local currency and start gaming online. ;)

No, but there are apparently ways to wangle it so that you can use local bandwidth. Haven't tried it myself yet.

Yeh - got that working this morning Tekken 5 on the way :)

Also bought a silver DS3 controller...

Was in an incredible connection the other day and saw they had a few demo ps3's on clearance. They were the 40gig ones as far as i remember and started a little under R3000... It actually looked quite tempting...

Was wondering if any of u guys would consider buying something like that?
I mean the controller would have to be blasted with sterilizing alcohol first but the console usually sits in that closed perspex box the whole time. plus you should still get the full warranty.

Saving a R1000 (R3999 - R2999) is +-25%. If it comes with a full warranty (I would check this)... then I don't see why not... if its a bit scratched head over the myskins.co.za and get a new look :p

Tested as follows:
1x Capped Telkom Account
1x Axxess Prepaid

Used the Axxess account to buy Tekken 5 and Mortal Kombat 2, started the download. Logged into router, changed to Telkom account, downloads stopped for a second, and then started again - Mortal Kombat 2 is at 50%.

It works. :)

To bad it doesn't work with ingame updates, like GT5P...is there a way to get the update via the store?
