PlayStation Move vs Microsoft Kinect

Ye this thread was really meant as an unbiased approach to both systems.

The one negative thing I did get though was non-use of any device on the Xbox system.

To quote something from IAP's post "Still, I’m going to have to try Kinect in my living room first before I shell out R1999 for the privilege of looking like an idiot in my own home."

tHAT QUOTE IS FROM THE op LINK, ONE OF THE POSTERS! (daMN cAPS) LOL!

I'm kinda disappointed with both tbh. Instead of taking the next step in console evolution these morons are now rehashing what's already been done by Nintendo :<

Nitendo do 3D Motion? Read up on the tech first bud!

Perhaps you should read up on the limitations and problems they are facing first.

Are you referring to the Kinect or Move? It's seems that you are confused about which is which and how they differ from the Wii NonChuck.

I'm referring to Kinect since it has 0 controllers unlike Move. Sure Move has more precision over control compared to the Wii (*cough* glorified *cough*), but really, how are they that different that you consider this to be the next step in console evolution?

WRONG!!!! Why do people keep harping on the idea that Nintendo originally came up with the idea of a motion sensor system? Sure! They refined the whole idea and quite well I might add, but:

The concept was originally done for the Playstation 2 way back already. If anything. it is Nintendo that copied the idea from Sony:

The EyeToy is a color digital camera device, similar to a webcam, for the PlayStation 2. The technology uses computer vision and Gesture recognition to process images taken by the camera. This allows players to interact with games using motion, color detection and also sound, through its built-in microphone.

The EyeToy was conceived by Richard Marks in 1999, after witnessing a demonstration of the PlayStation 2 at the 1999 Game Developers Conference in San Jose, California.[3] Marks's idea was to enable natural user interface and mixed reality video game applications using an inexpensive webcam, using the computational power of the PlayStation 2 to implement computer vision and gesture recognition technologies. He joined Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) that year, and worked on the technology as Special Projects Manager for Research and Development

Combined with 3D motion detection camera. Again read up on the technology.

*sigh* such narrow-mindedness. Who said anything about the Wii being the first and original? I mentioned Nintendo since they were the first to do it properly. Throw your mud elsewhere.

PS: Playstation Eye is a peripheral, Wiimotes are standard Nintendo controllers, see the difference?.

Lemme be straight here since you clearly seem like the kind of person who absolutely must be correct. I know what technology is in both consoles which is exactly why I am not happy with them having gone this route. Do you prefer to have old ideas spiced up instead of the R&D going into something more revolutionary?

*sigh* such narrow-mindedness. What difference does it make. Peripheral or not?. Both Kinect and the Move are peripherals and that is what the topic is about.

What can be more revolutionary than the Over-hyped Projects Natal aka Kinect. No controllers. The fact that it is a complex and thus troublesome system is another story.

Now explain wha'st "Revolutionary" R&D in your view, as both the Kinect and the Move with 3D motion camera detection and precision controls are revolutionary for gaming consoles.

Again .. really... go read up on the technology and come try again. Old technology indeed.

These things are all evolutionary steps, as are most things in the world of technology. Everyone has copied something from somewhere.

Well both will bring something different to each of the systems so it's all good right?
Still...after having a go at the Wii quite a while ago I was rather unimpressed with it's accuracy and response - will try the newer ones (which appear to be more responsive) but of course we'll need some good titles to go along with the new hardware too which I don't see much of.
