Please do a MyBroadband speed test on Rain

On full 5G signal for some reason.
Rain is a sad case of how a company can go down in flames. By having the wrong people in the wrong jobs. Hello SAA. I gave up during day time on Rain. Your story is my story. I think this thread must be split into 4G and 5G because, Rain wants to build 5G and therefore will boost it. We must also remember the footprint for 5G is very small so Rain can attend to problems. Basically we the 4G fools pay for the 5G infrastructure, as Rain just add users who are desperate for broadband. Cheap, unreliable and useless Rain 4G.

Test done on 5G WiFi in Rietondale, Pretoria.
Device is in "optimal location" according to the router settings.
If you even try to upload anything, even send an email, the entire network becomes unresponsive and has to reboot.

Hasnt been this bad since April think the fix they did have been undone. These low speeds are very frustrating.
@rain_mobile, @rain_networks - Any information on what is going on?

In another post I mentioned that I noticed a pattern in my connection speed. Every morning in the wee hours of the AM it's fast, and it gradually gets much slower as the day progresses.

Have a look at this from yesterday.

9am in the Morning.

Great Speeds as it should be.

Then as the day progresses.....

5PM.

8PM when its gaming time.

This is literally every single day without fail. Great speeds and 0 issues when nobody is online, and it slowly progresses to absolute crap as more and more people come online or get home from work. One would think that 45 down and 1 up is fine for gaming on local servers for games like Call of Duty, Battlefield and Counterstrike (which in theory it should be) but that's not the issue. The issue is MASSIVE amounts of rubberbanding, latency, ping spikes and disconnects.

Extremely frustrating.

EDIT: I'll do Mybroadband speed tests as well :)

There is a pattern to rain speed dropping there is no way speeds should everyday at the same time like clockwork there is too many variables in life for this to happen.

With that being said the pattern going from bad to worse to a point where I need to drive to the mall to get downloads done at home it's totally useless it's a struggle to even download a 36KB image on WhatsApp 4/5 bars

If I look at the posts here, I have to say I'm glad I left about two months ago. Currently on a local Wisp, waiting while the fibre guys are digging up the neighbourhood.

This started yesterday afternoon or so after having good speeds for 5 months.

The upload goes as high as 15mbit but the download stays below 1mbit. I'm not even gonna bother contacting them. If it doesn't resolve itself within about 2 days I'm simply cancelling and moving on.

EDIT: Well well, it fixed itself!

Me and my fellow 5G buddies on discord coined a new term "it's raining" instead of "I'm lagging" xD

The amounts of rubberbanding and disconnecting was too damn high.

Haven't had any problems since I switched from 4G to 5G back in April, though I wake up every morning hoping that rain don't throttle my connection today, I know they are coming for 5G too, they are just waiting for it to fill up.Annotation 2020-08-17 120737.jpg

North Riding

Ping: 19ms
Download: 4.1Mbps
Upload: 17.49Mbps

This is the best I've got for 3 weeks. Absolutely shocking! Using Rain for 1 year never had speed issues like this. Bringing my business to a standstill. Probably going to cancel and move to another ISP.... today!
