Please do a MyBroadband speed test on Rain

What assistance, I'm still waiting......

Please answer here in future, as either you don't know how to find things on your system using a reference number, or your system has lost the info and you just won't say anything about it.

Hi Clinton

Thanks for your reply:- However I have the following questions:-

1)
You say the tower I am currently connected to has a technical issue:-
Kindly note I had a look at your connection Kindly note that currently you are connecting to a tower with a technical issue.
However, I asked about a tower I normally connect to:-
The signal tower located around Sea Towers in doonside seems to be down since early hours of yesterday morning.

From my understanding, and looking at the map, this 2 points are approximately 2km apart. So which station has the technical issue, the one that is offline, or the one that's online and we're communicating through?

So they're fixing the working tower? anyway
Our technicians are working on resolving this could take 24-48 hrs to resolve but we will keep you updated

2)
You say you detached my device, which device, I didn't say which device I was using to connect, you didn't ask which one either.
I have detached your device, please reboot/ switch off your device in +- 10 minutes
Note I do have 2 running connections at 2 different locations.
Has that station also got a problem? It's 30km away.

Anyway, I've rebooted the device (Soft/Hard) Every way you can reboot a device (This one has 3 ways)

3)
Now comes the really techie stuff :)
If you are still having trouble connecting to the internet then kindly try the below steps to restore your connection and improve your speeds.
Note my original message:-
The signal tower located around Sea Towers in doonside seems to be down since early hours of yesterday morning. I normally connect to this tower due to near LOS. Currently I have next to no connectivity connecting to another tower through a hill. Please advise when this tower would be operational again.

4) All I'm asking is, after re-relocating my external antenna around the yard, tripping over my meager 20m of dual coax cable I have attached, I remain with an unstable internet connection because I still have to send a 3.6-4Ghz radio signal through 3 houses and a hill to reach the tower it is connecting to. If you like to lend me +- 100m cable and someone to look after the antenna and cable down the road (Moving around the hill btw), then you're welcome to do so.

All I asked was, when do you expect the AP station at Sea Towers to be operational again?
I assume it got hit by lightning, please let me know!

Regards
Gavin Bauer

PS: Put some tech/sudo humor into your response.

I am in Durban (queensburgh to be more specific) and am experiencing the same low speeds similar to what you posted.

Communicated via DM with rainmobile here and further escalation was promised. 2 days later I received a generic email response asking to reboot router and place close to the window etc.

I replied and asked specific questions about the towers around me and if it was possible to connect to another tower as it was evident that there was a problem with the tower I was currently connecting to. Since then there has been no response from Rain. This has happened a few other times previously as well. Support is almost non existent......

Hi @koogs

Apologies about that. I will check why they didn't assist you

This confirms my suspicion of additional faulty base stations:-
As I mention in part 2)
2)

This 2nd device is in the Queensburgh area, connected to the base station located at the Northdene Girl Guide Hall.
From the initial response, my fault recording and other responses we can confirm there are problems at:-
North Girl Guide hall, possibly additional base stations in the Queensburgh area.
Sea Towers in Doonside Amanzimtoti, and by Rain's response Jabulani Senior Citizens Residence.

Please @rain_mobile , just let us know what is going on!

Hi @Cryterion

I will have a look and advise. Ticket number is still 3895324

Hope rain is proud of their performance in Parys. Pathetic doesn't even get close to describing it.

Been at it with Rain for the past 4 days now. 3 in Umhlanga and today in Mount Edgecombe. To date unable to stream anything for longer than 5mins. uncapped at cR480 pm! I am cancelling at the earliest opportunity. In fact I had drop of their network and use mobile data to post this as even browsing is an issue.Screenshot_20201215-220142_MyBroadband Speed Test.jpg

@rain_mobile Why is it that every time there is a power out, when the power comes back your service is absolutely useless. Going through normal channels (support) takes more than 2 weeks to sort out.

The internet is broken today and it's not just Rain. Vodacom and Telkom all grinding to a halt slow.
